base64 data encoding for the html table?

I was looking through one of Christian Heilmann's posts and noticed this query:

select * from geo.globeimage where place="sfo" and type="data" and location="true"

Which returns some image data that's base64 encoded. It would be quite nice to have the same functionality in the html table, so you could do something like this:

select * from html where url="http://yahoo.com/" and xpath="//img" and type="data"

Something to consider.

Thanks!

  • You can do something like this via a sub select.

    e.g.

select * from data.uri where url in (select src from html where url="http://yahoo.com" and xpath="//img")

Oh nice, awesome! Thanks for the quick reply. I just found the data.uri table and was about to post that I can also do this with specific image URLs:

    select * from data.uri where url="http://l.yimg.com/a/i/us/pps/yql32.png" or url="http://l1.yimg.com/a/i/ww/met/pa_icons_18/20101028.1622/spr_apps_us.png"

This is very exciting! I was thinking I was going to have to build a new API to do this.

    Thanks again!
