YQL Attribution requirements in the TOS

I asked this on Twitter but didn't hear anything back immediately so figured I'd try here.

Reading through the YQL TOS it makes it pretty clear in 1ei

QUOTE
The Yahoo! Developer Network Attribution Policy located at http://developer.yahoo.com/attribution/.

that any site based on YQL must follow the terms of the YDN Attribution page. I hopped over there to see what sort of attribution was actually required, and it states that

QUOTE
The Attribution must appear adjacent to your use of Yahoo! content, with a maximum spacing of 5 pixels between the Attribution and the graphic or textual elements within the web page that uses Yahoo! Web Services.

So let me see if I understand. We use YQL to parse a few feeds and display the results of that parsing around our website, according to the attribution requirements set out in the TOS we need to have a badge or textual link within 5 pixels of each place where we do this?

I've run into a similar problem before when looking at the TOS around using the YUI libs from the Y! CDN, and according to Eric Miraglia that was actually not what they intended.

Is that the case here or do I need to have a page that is positively covered in YQL badges/text links to use YQL?

We are in the process of updating the attribution policy. Attribution is required but the "badge" style attribution "next to" the content doesn't really work well for YQL.

I would recommend at the moment that *some* attribution (a link to the YQL homepage on YDN) on any page (header or footer) that surfaces content from YQL would be sufficient. Once we update the policy we'll let you know.

Thanks for the update Jonathan, I really like using YQL for the processing of feeds instead of having to write parsing & filtering code. I was afraid that with the current state of the TOS I was going to have to dump YQL because of the onerous attribution requirements.
