fetch feed gets nothing from iopscience.iop.org

Hi,

I'm trying to make a simple rss feed filter, but a few of the feeds aren't being fetched. Minimum example pipe is here: http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=3b54ddc30135b46d4e30e90970ea51ed

Instead of working properly, the pipe reports the error: warning Error fetching http://iopscience.iop.org/2041-8205/?rss=1. Response: 0

and the feeds I would like to fetch(and that have this problem) are: http://iopscience.iop.org/2041-8205/?rss=1 http://iopscience.iop.org/0004-637X/?rss=1

These feeds work properly when you give them to a feed reader (tested in google reader and feedly), but not in pipes.

I can't tell if this is a yahoo pipes problem, or an iopscience.iop.org problem.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Anyone have any ideas? Do yahoo and iop.org not play well?

  • From the W3C RSS feed Validator you do not have a valid RSS feed.

  • You can use the YQL module with the query

select * from rss where url in ('http://iopscience.iop.org/2041-8205/?rss=1','http://iopscience.iop.org/0004-637X/?rss=1')

  • Hi. I am totally new to YahooPipes and the coding involved. Now your iop issue. With other iop journals I have experienced the same problem, the RSS does not return anything although if I put it directly in my bookmarks in Firefox the feed shows correctly. Sometimes I try again running the pipe and the iop server seems to respond and I get no errors, and in both cases I use Fetch Feed module. I did try the solution previous poster suggested using the "select *" command and the YQL module and results change but intermittently, that is using Fetch Feed or YQL does not solve the iop problem for good. Since I don't know much about this YQL or more sophisticated coding, for now, I think it may well be just an iop server problem that sometimes show and sometimes it doesn't.
