Newbie Pipe Question

I am trying to write a pipe that sorts my RSS feed into a range such as for insta.nce, show me all authors beginning with the letter A. I cannot seem to get this to work. My goal is to have it output a range where i can say show me all letter A-L thanks http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/pipe.info?_id=aa5fe59f3a80b2b9ffe7bdd96feaeccc

  • Hello,

This is easy in theory using a regex filter. However, I played with your feed and noticed two things: first, the author name isn't always an author name, eg sometimes there is "Diabetes News and Interest" and then in the article itself a real author is mentioned. It won't be an easy task to work around those cases. Second, the author names syntax. is it always first name [space] last name? the other way around? do you want to filter on last names? first names?

check this pipe out: http://pipes.yahoo.com/luneart/d631f309ac121738abbe6c2c25f196a7 your solution, corrected, on the left filters and sorts based on first letter of first name, second solution on the left, filters and sorts based on first letter of last name, assuming last name is last word of the author name.

here is what my goal is. Our forum has moderators that check over posts and each moderator is assigned a section of the alphabet. For instance one admin may have the letters A-D another may have E-L.

What i am trying to do is use the RSS feed and sort them by user name or last name? Is what im asking possible?
