I'm trying to set up a source using the below feed (Joomla syndicated feed I think) but get an error?

http://www.indexuniverse.eu/component/ninjarsssyndicator/?feed_id=1&format=raw.

I'm not able to get this feed to work as a source, it gives me an error message, but it is a valid feed because it comes into Feedly no problem. I'm a bit of a beginner at all this, but I was able to set up a very simple yahoo pipe so i think my basic basics are okay.

Thanking you!

  • Here's the error message and a link to a simple pipe.

Error fetching http://www.indexuniverse.eu/component/ninjarsssyndicator/?feed_id=1&format=raw. Response: OK (200). Error: Invalid XML document. Root cause: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; lineNumber: 2; columnNumber: 6; The processing instruction target matching "[xX][mM][lL]" is not allowed.

  • Hello,

Use a fetch data module instead, and can even enter 'channel.item' as your path to item list to directly get your content. Why, you ask, as fetch feed should work fine? Your rss feed is badly formed, as your error message says, and I believe it's the additional first line (empty) line. When you use fetch data instead pipes won't be as cautious on the format, and you can then extract your content.

    enjoy!

  • Hi Lolo,

Thanks for your help. I tried using the fetch data module and I couldn't get it to work. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Here's the link to my pipe. http://pipes.yahoo.com/lesgoldmann/8cb9d03171bf937ffd07588090dc09ce

    The error message was

Pipes encountered a problem while running this pipe: The Pipes engine request failed (500)

    Many Thanks,

  • Actually it is sort of working, the pipes output in the toolbox screen suggests it is picking up the information as it produces pipes output but when I click run pipes it comes up null?

    Thank you.
