Error returned when trying to create a fetch feed for basic pipe

Hello, I'm just trying to get a handle on using the pipes editor for the first time. I have not been successful in getting a fetch feed to work. I even tried to recreate the demo using Yahoo's own page. Every URL returns a similar error message. Is the pipes site down or am I missing something obvious? Thanks!

Error fetching http://sports.yahoo.com. Response: OK (200). Error: Invalid XML document. Root cause: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException; lineNumber: 40; columnNumber: 43; The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.

  • Hello,

The documentation is pretty old I think, in particular, most of the external sources/services used in the demo are now offline. try with a well known rss source like this one from the nytimes: http://www.nytimes.com/services/xml/rss/nyt/InternationalHome.xml

You can also browse existing pipes using the "search for pipes..." field, of have a look at the "popular pipes"!

  • Thanks Lolo, I'll give that a try!

  • Hi I would make sure you're using the Fetch Feed module (vs. XPath Fetch Page or Find First Site Feed modules.)

As Lolo stated, try the nytimes rss feed, with the Fetch Feed module to make sure it's working for you. Also in the future please provide your pipeID or link to your Pipe.

    Thanks -Paul
