Is delegating to a Yahoo openID supported?

I'm having trouble logging in to the getsatisfaction.com support site via OpenID, and they're pointing the finger at Yahoo...

I'm using the OpenID URL https://sourceforge.net/users/stevensa, which is set up to delegate to my Yahoo ID. I'm pretty sure it all worked fine in the past, but I haven't used the site for some time. However, when I try to log in now, after the redirect to Yahoo all I get is a page that says "Sorry! You will not be able to login to this website as it is using an older version of the the OpenID technology. Yahoo! only supports OpenID 2.0 because it is more secure."

After raising this with them, and asking when they might be upgrading to OpenID 2.0, I was told they "can use yahoo's openid provider here without problems" and that according to some blog post "yahoo does not support delegation at all". Since that's not an official Yahoo source, however, I thought it worth asking here whether that is indeed the case...?

  • Hi Andy,

    If you are referring to http://openid.net/specs/openid-authenticat...0.html#anchor50 then yes, it is supported by Yahoo!

    Thanks,

    What openid.server URI should I use for yahoo openid delegation?

  • This seems to work for me:

    HTML
    <link rel="openid2.provider openid.server" href="https://open.login.yahooapis.com/openid/op/auth" />
    <link rel="openid2.local_id openid.delegate" href="https://me.yahoo.com/myusername" />
