OEM partnership questions

Dear friends from Yahoo,

1. How about portuguese version of widgets made by Yahoo, like Yahoo news, weather, etc.? In this case, when do not have support to a specific language, who is responsible to translate it? Yahoo or OEM partner?

2. How about the possibility to have Youtube service as a widget? Are there some technical, legal or business issue as impediment to make it possible?

3. If OEM have agreement with some local content providers and desire embed some widgets at production time, is it possible?

Thanks in advance.

    1. Portuguese Language: each app developer is responsible for localizing their own strings in the app. The device (oem) specifies the languages that the device supports and Y! will display the appropriate language based on the language setting on the device. Please make sure you integrate the localized strings in separate file as specified in our development guideline documentation.

    2. YouTube is focused on supporting Flash Lite only, so this approach has limited the reach until more devices support Flash Lite. I would assume that YouTube will eventually be on any Flash Lite supported devices from the top OEMs, but that is something YouTube will have to confirm.

    3. Yes, it is possible, but not necessary as the initial set of apps that are displayed the first time the user connects to the web is controlled server side. The default set of apps are managed by Yahoo! and can be updated at any point.

    Hope this helps.
