We wanted to drop a quick note into the forums for anyone setting up VirtualBox 3.1.4 on a Windows (XP, Vista, 7) Host with the WDK.
We have found that the WDK inside the VirtualBox 3.1.4 will crash the network services for VirtualBox after some slight network usage. We have not tested 3.1.4 on anything other than Windows Hosts.
The connection will make, on average, five URL() calls to the network services, but will start to fail around the 6th or 7th URL() call. We have only started testing the reasoning behind this, but wanted to warn anyone trying to setup/upgrade the new VirtualBox release and the WDK.
We have not tested the XMLHTTPRequest(). We welcome any help trying to track down the issue and testing on other installations.
It does not matter if we create a random variable for each URL() call or reset the variable after the call has returned a result. It seems like network services are not closing the call even after the network response has completed.
What happens: When you make the network calls after the ~5th time, all async requests will timeout (after 60 secs) with the following information coming out of the URL object.
URL.response: 0 URL.result: “Could not load URL” or “Could not load URL with POST.” //it depends on whether the URL.postData is defined
Solution: - Use VirtualBox 3.1.0 or 3.1.2 - After we upgraded to 3.1.4, we had to back out the upgrade and reinstall a lower version.
