Yahoo TV widgets on Samsung LE46C650

Hi everyone.

I want to know if new suamsung's model of serie C support Yahoo! widgets. I have Samsung LE46B651 and it supports widgets, but I want to update it to LE46C650. At Samsung's web page appears that this model supports Samsung apps, but there's no word about Yahoo widgets. Somebody knows if LE46C650 supports yahoo widgets.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards.

As we know until now, American firmware of Samsung C series supports both Samsung Apps and Yahoo Internet Widgets.

The European models doesn’t support that.

But … from this thead, we learn from Austin Teames that the European models will support that with firmware update.

We appreciate the questions and concerns regarding Yahoo! TV Widgets support on European TVs. The Yahoo! Connected TV team is very excited about the expansion of TV Widgets to 2010 Samsung TVs. We are working to get this released as soon as possible to our developers and consumers but because we want the best experience this release has been slightly delayed. We encourage you to continue developing Yahoo Widgets for Samsung devices to ensure your widget is ready for this release. We recently announced the expansion of Yahoo TV Widgets on Sony BRAVIA TVs to over 100 countries. Check out the press releases at: http://yhoo.client.shareholder.com/press/r...eleaseID=479784 We will soon also make some official announcements above availability on Samsung TVs.
    Thanks,

Also as I see now that Samsung releases new firmware on 2 Sep 2010 (The latest release on my question was on 26 Jul 2010)

Can anyone in Europe to see if they add something. To see how it works on American Models you can get the manual from the site

At last in my personal opinion, that’s very difficult to will see these release firmware into C650 models. I beleave that Samsung choice to add only Samsung Apps on European models because in Europe we don’t have a lot of widgets yet. Instead in America they build a lot of widgets for local use, and they can’t remove this feature easy. I don’t know it’s strange situation.

Samsung wants to get money like Apple did with Apple Store, I don’t think that he can do that because we have a lot of App Stores now and a user doesn’t want to buy the same product for different devices that he get. And of course developers get crazy with this situation, we can’t promote our products to a large target group because we have to learn several API and platforms, and build our products in these platforms one by one from the start!!! (with the problem of updates and support).

It’s a crazy situation and this will destroy the all idea for widgets on TV’s, people will reject it.
