Screensaver Timeout Example?

Hello,

We've designing a fullscreen widget, but in the acceptance criteria is mentioned that the widget should take care of the screensavetimeout or similar. I was trying to find something in the documentation, but the informations are equal to zero for me. wink.gif Does anyone have an example for this?

Would be great if someone can help wink.gif jeremy or anyone?

Thanks in advance,
Torsten

  • CODE
    KONtx.HostEventManager.send('setScreensaver', val);

    Where "val" is either true or false.

    Enjoy!

    What is your widget doing when it's in the fullscreen state?

    Any update on this? I have video-on-demand widget and video is played on fullscreen. What should I do with screensaver and how to handle it? Is this enough:
    KONtx.HostEventManager.send('setScreensaver', false); (or it should be TRUE)

    Thanks, Nikola

    If you are doing a video widget, you don't need to do anything. Screensaver is handled for you automatically for video widgets.

    Hi,
    I have video played on small part of the screen and "background" image on top of it with transparent area + some buttons. I got this from yahoo qa:
    1) Set Screensaver to 10 or 15 minutes in profile widget
    2) Launch Widget
    3) Go to fullscreen and start video
    4) Let the video play till end
    5) Leave the system untouched for more than 15 minutes

    Expected: Screensaver should be triggered
    Actual: Screensaver is never triggered

    How to solve this issue?

    Hi Jeremy,

    I'm extending FullscreenView, then i have background image with transparent area (where video plays), some buttons, and videoplayer. For the player i'm using
    CODE
    // in createView
    theView.player = new KONtx.videoplayer({
    viewId: theView.config.viewId,
    viewport: $app.styles.full.viewport_small,
    ....
    // in styles file
    this.viewport_small = { x: 526*$app.styles.delta, y: 160*$app.styles.delta, width: 402*$app.styles.delta, height: 228*$app.styles.delta };

    Hello Nikola,

    The issue is that you are testing using a European model TV. The European TVs have not received the latest Framework where this bug is fixed. You do not need to do anything.

    So I will answer this QA
    Expected: Screensaver should be triggered
    Actual: Screensaver is never triggered

    with 'FIXED' ?

    I've already talked with Roger and our internal QA about this issue. Consider it a non-issue from your end.

    Jeremy, is this a non-issue for everyone, or just the issue mentioned above?

    Depends on what you are doing. If you have a video widget and you are playing content using the framework, then it's a non-issue for you.

  • Jeremy, I have a fullscreen slideshow that cycles through a bunch of images, similar to the Flickr widget. I can get the screensaver to trigger as expected but am not sure what the expected behaviour is at that point. When the screen goes black, the only way to wake it up is to press the 'Home' (F10) button to go back to the dockIs this the expected behaviour or is there something else I can do to return to where I was?

    Thanks,
    Jason

    That is the expected behavior in the WDK. On TVs, it's to show the TV signal again.

  • I don't know why it doesn't work.
    I implemented like what Jeremy said:

    CODE
    KONtx.HostEventManager.send('setScreensaver', val);//val: true/false

    Please help me explain it :)I'm using wdk 0.9.6.23.

    What do you mean it "doesn't work" ?

    -Jeremy

    Sorry for late, (i spent on vacation)

    I mean:
    When i set:

    KONtx.HostEventManager.send('setScreensaver', false);
    Expect: the screen saver won't show after timeout. (default value of timeout or the value we selected in ProfileSetting)
    Actual: the screen saver still shows after timeout.

    KONtx.HostEventManager.send('setScreensaver', true);
    Expect: the screen saver shows immediately.
    Actual: the screen saver doesn't show.

    Thank.

    Which TV are you testing this on? There was a bug in the past, but it's since been fixed.

    You're expectation is wrong. The screensaver won't immediately show when you call this, all this call does is say "it's ok to show the screensaver".
