Live football stats?

Do the nfl stats per player/game update live during NFL games?   Is stat_categories under game the best place to grab live player stats?

  • Yes, the stats should update in realtime. The stat_categories resource underneath the game resource is just listing which stat categories are available in our fantasy game, though. No actual stat values associated with that. It depends on your application, but from our perspective, the most logical place to grab live player stats would be from the stats resource beneath the player in the context of a team resource.

    Details about player stats:

  • Okay, weird, I definitely answered this earlier, too. Sorry about that.

Short answers! Yes, almost all stats except for league rankings and team point totals in a league standings context will update live during NFL games. So, you should have live matchup scores, live player stats, live player scores, etc.

The best place to grab live player stats really depends on what you're trying to do -- we generally would expect to have applications centering around the fantasy experience, so we'd think that you'd be looking at things like the league scoreboard, or the player stats on a team's roster. stat_categories is definitely not the best place to grab live player stats from, as that'll just return back the definitions for all of the stat categories (ie, what's the stat display name, what's the sort order, etc). You'd want to be looking at the player stats resource instead.
