Is there value in minify-ing widget source?

Is there any value in minifying the source of my widget before packaging for distribution? This is obviously a question about the implementation of the javascript interpreter on the various platforms.

    Hi,
Sorry for the long delay in responding to this.

That's a good question. We've done tests and feel that minifying doesn't have any performance gains when parsing. Additionally, in terms of bandwidth, you're just taking the hit of the non-minified code only once, and then it's on your system. I would even argue that if the size of the widget is exceedingly large that code bloat and/or images would be the more likely culprit than whitespace and comments.

From QA's standpoint, if anything needed to be investigated it would be too hard to debug if something needed to be looked into.
