Downloading AdBuilder

Using Ad Builder to create an Ad Template

Important

An Ad Unit is created for a specific page layout. For example, if you create a new property for a category page and add the category page URL, the created Ad Unit is specific to the page layout of that URL. The same Ad Unit can be used on all the pages that have exactly the same layout.

By adding a Chrome extension to your web browser, you can take advantage of Ad Builder to integrate your native ads on one or more websites of your choosing.

Ad Builder lets you create, edit, update, and view native display ad spaces, and is ideal for streaming native ad placements on web, mobile and desktop devices.

to come

Use Ad Builder to overlay native ads on your publisher page - without updating or altering the actual page or its content.

Basics

To use Ad Builder, you follow these steps:

  1. Select the stream where you’d like your ads to be displayed.

  2. Adjust the start position and frequency of your ads.

3. Preview and save your native ads design and dimensions. |

With Ad Builder, you can create multiple ad spaces on a single page, experiment with different combinations that have worked for other publishers or create your own unique tags for streaming native ad content.

Working with Ad Builder

Once you’ve downloaded the Chrome extension, Clicking on Edit with Ad Builder launches the URL you specified when you set up your Unit.

When the screen appears, you have the option of taking a quick tour of how to work with Ad Builder.

Ad Builder essentially performs two tasks:

  • Detects by default potential ad placements, and works best if the site is set up as a stream.

  • When you select an ad placement, Ad Builder determines the Start position of your native ad by default. This information is then used during the rendering of the ad in the page stream.

To work with Ad Builder, follow these steps:

  1. Select the ad stream you want on the page. You’ll see it highlighted with a plus sign in the upper left corner.

If you choose the Replace Ads option, a container with <div class=”yap-ad-{adUnitCode}”></div> needs to be placed on the page where you want the Ads to be inserted. {adUnitCode} is the alphanumeric adUnitCode that can be found in the Ad Tag.

  1. When you’re satisfied with your changes, click Apply Changes.

Edit and Preview

Ad Builder lets you edit and preview your ads in native streams. Using edit tools, you’ll have access to all artifacts on the page.

For ad placement, you can select a position that Ad Builder “thinks” will automatically work. If the auto-detection of template/placement doesn’t work, click Manual Mode in Ad Builder. This lets you create a custom template for a particular Ad Unit on the page.

To use Manual Mode, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Manual Mode (</>) icon on the Ad Builder toolbar.

  2. Click the section of the page, which you want to templatize into an Ad Unit.

  3. By clicking, Expand or Shrink, choose your template.

  4. Once satisfied, click OK. This enables detection of Ad Units on the page.

Once you select a location where you want the Ads to be, click the Preview icon to see how the Ad will look. If you’re satisfied with the look and feel of the Ad, proceed to Advanced Options to set up Ad Repetition, Total number of Ads and the Starting position of the Ad.
