How is this restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product different from the complete version of Flurry’s Analytics product?

This restricted version of our Analytics product entails certain key differences from the complete version of our Analytics product. It restricts the use of device identifiers to only provide analytics for your particular application. Your application will not be able to use User Acquisition Analytics, benchmarks, or age and gender estimates provided under our Analytics product with full features. Your analytics information will not include any latitude/longitude geo-location data from your end users.

Why would I want to use this restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product?

You may wish to limit or restrict data use to address certain customer issues. You may wish to limit data use to assist you towards meeting certain legal obligations, to further a business relationship or to satisfy the requirements of certain privacy policies. In addition, you may need to limit data use under restrictions imposed by a regulatory scheme, a court order, or data protection authorities in other countries. We cannot ensure that use of the restricted version of our Analytics product will satisfy any of your legal obligations. Please consult with your advisors as to your use of any of our products and any measures you must take to towards your compliance efforts.

Is there a price difference between the restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product and the complete version of Flurry’s Analytics product?

NO. Both versions are free.

I received an email from Flurry saying that I cannot use Flurry’s Analytics product and can only use this restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product with my application. Why?

When you created your application project to use our Analytics service, you designated your application in a “Kids” or “Children” category (e.g., Kids or Children’s Magazines). Any application directed towards “Kids” or “Children” may not use our products or services other than this restricted version of our Analytics product. Our terms of service and privacy policy prohibit the use of any of our products or services in connection with any application labeled or described as a “Kids” or “Children” application, in connection with any application, advertisement or service directed towards children, or to collect any personal information from children.

Can I use the restricted version of the Analytics product for an application that is not directed towards children under the age of 13?

YES. You may elect to use the restricted version of our Analytics product with any application.

What does this have to do with COPPA?

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a U.S. law that regulates the collection of data by website, applications and other online products or services from children under the age of 13. Revised COPPA regulations are effective as of July 1, 2013. If you have an application that is directed towards children or that is collecting personal information from children, you must comply with COPPA. Please discuss with your advisors how the revised COPPA regulations affect you and your use of the restricted version of our Analytics product.

My application is directed towards children of various ages. What Flurry’s products and services can I use?

If your application is directed towards children under 13, you may only use the restricted version of our Analytics product in connection with your application directed towards children under the age of 13. You must accept the Addendum to the Terms of Service when you create your application project for this application. You may not use any of our other products or services in connection with your app directed towards children under the age of 13.

My application is directed towards children under the age of 13 but likely a parent downloaded my application on the parent’s device. Can I use Flurry’s other products and services with this application?

NO. If your application is directed at children under the age of 13, you may only use the restricted version of our Analytics product in connection with your application directed towards children under the age of 13 regardless of whether such child’s parent downloaded the application on the parent’s device.

I’m a developer with several different applications. Some applications are directed towards children under 13 and some applications directed towards a general audience. Can I use Flurry’s other products or services?

In connection with your application directed towards children under the age of 13, you may only use the restricted version of our Analytics product and may not use any of our other products or services. You may use our other products or services in connection with your application directed towards a general audience.

COPPA is a U.S. law and I’m a developer based outside the U.S. My application is directed towards children under 13. Does this affect me?

YES. You may only use the restricted version of our Analytics product in connection with your application directed towards children under the age of 13. You may not use any of our other products or services in connection with your application directed towards children under the age of 13.

If I use this restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product, does it make me COPPA compliant?

COPPA compliance depends on various factors which may include your use of Events and Event Parameters in the restricted version and your collection of data from sources other than through the use of Flurry’s Analytics product. We cannot ensure that your use of the restricted version of our Analytics product will result in COPPA compliance.

Is Flurry COPPA compliant? Is this restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product COPPA compliant?

Since COPPA compliance is fact-specific and dependent on individual use cases, Flurry cannot represent that it is, or that this restricted version of our Analytics product is, COPPA compliant.

How do I get started with this restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product?

You may integrate Flurry’s SDK by following the general instructions for all customers. When you create an application project for your application, you may elect to use the restricted version of our Analytics product and read, review and accept the Addendum to the Analytics Terms of Service.

You switched my application to the restricted version of Flurry’s Analytics product but my application is not directed towards children under the age of 13. How do I switch back to use the Analytics product with full features?

Select your application in Flurry Analytics and open the Manage - App Info page. There you will be able to update your category and/or change your selection regarding the use of the restricted version of our Analytics product.
