Alerts¶
You can monitor key app metrics whether you’re logged into Flurry or not. Alerts are delivered via email, Slack or - if you have the Flurry app - as push notifications.
For example, you can have Flurry alert you when:
Your app experiences changes in the last hour
Specific app events spike or dip
Usage rise or falls day-over-day
The number of weekly average users passes your goal
Crashes surpass a certain threshold
Alert delivery preferences can be managed in your profile page in Flurry or in the Flurry App in your Preferences section.
Alert Set Up¶
You can set up alerts under the Admin section of Flurry on desktop or in the Alerts section of the Flurry app.
Metrics and Time Grain¶
You can set up alerts for any of the following Metrics:
Usage
Sessions
Active Users
New Users *
Total Time *
Behavioral
Event Occurrences * (the number of times an event was triggered)
Users Triggering Event * (the number of different users triggering an event)
Crash
Total Errors
Symbolicated Crash Devices
Symbolicated Crash Occurrences
Symbolicated Crash Impact Rate
Time Grain & Schedule
Alerts for all metrics except those with * can be configured Hourly, Daily, or Weekly. Alerts for metrics with * may be triggered Daily or Weekly.
Alerts schedule:
Hourly alerts are sent every hour.
Daily alerts are sent in the morning US Pacific Time Zone.
Weekly alerts are sent Monday morning US Pacific Time Zone.
Thresholds and Conditions¶
Alerts can be customized by these conditions:
When a metric passes a certain threshold in the specified time grain (last hour, last day or last week):
Rises Above - A metric is higher for the most recent Hour/Day/Week than the specified threshold.
Falls Below - A metric is lower for the most recent Hour/Day/Week than the specified threshold.
When a metric changes by a given amount, either In Total or As a Percent, for the most recent Hour/Day/Week compared to the preceding Hour/Day/Week
Changes By
Percent: The selected metric in the most recent Hour/Day/Week changed by more than the specified percent compared to the Hour/Day/Week that preceded it.
In Total: The selected metric in the most recent Hour/Day/Week changed by more than the specified total compared to the Hour/Day/Week that preceded it.
Note
Changed by may indicate a decrease or increase.
Increases By More Than
Percent: The selected metric in the most recent Hour/Day/Week increased by more than the specified percent compared to the Hour/Day/Week that preceded it.
In Total: The selected metric in the most recent Hour/Day/Week increased by more than the specified total compared to the Hour/Day/Week that preceded it.
Decreases By More Than
Percent: The selected metric in the most recent Hour/Day/Week decreased by more than the specified percent compared to the Hour/Day/Week that preceded it.
In Total: The selected metric in the most recent Hour/Day/Week decreased by more than the specified total compared to the Hour/Day/Week that preceded it.
Wait Frame¶
Optionally, you can ask Flurry to stop sending alerts for a certain number of time periods following an alert trigger. Use the Wait Frame to specify the delay. The delay units will follow the time grain for the alert.
For example, if you have an alert for when your app drops below a certain number of sessions in an hour, but don’t want multiple alerts for 6 hours after the first hour, you may specify the wait frame of 6 for your hourly alert.
Alert Management¶
Alerts are delivered via email, Slack or - if you have the Flurry app - as push notifications.
If you want to only receive alerts via push notification, you can change your preferences. Just toggle the email preference in your Profile page in Flurry on desktop or in Settings > Preferences in the Flurry app.
If you want to disable Slack alerts (a) open Flurry and navigate to the apps Admin page, (b) click on the edit icon of the app for which you want to configure Slack alerts, & (c) scroll down to the “Slack Integration” section and toggle the “Enabled” button to disable.
If you want to discontinue alert push notifications, log into the Flurry app on iOS or Android and disable the alert toggle in Settings > Preferences.
Individual alerts may also be paused, edited or deleted. To pause an alert, go to Alerts in the app or desktop and change the toggle for the alert. You can use the edit icon (desktop) or tap an alert (app) to edit the alert name or trigger conditions. The delete icon (desktop) or swipe (app) will delete the alert entirely.
Alerts in Digest Format¶
Some alerts may be delivered in an email digest format if multiple alerts meet your criteria for the same time grain. This means that if 10 alerts are triggered for a given day, we will send you one alert email containing those 10 alerts.
