The Billing/Bidding overlay displays controls that enable you to specify the billing method, bill price, goal type, and bid price for lines in bulk.

billing-and-bidding-overlay

The controls and fields displayed in the Billing/Bidding overlay are dynamic. The options specified for one field determine the options available in other fields.

By default, the Billing/Bidding overlay enables you to make billing and bidding adjustments to the following fields:

Property Description
Billing Method Campaign costs are defined, managed, and tracked using line-level billing configurations. Three billing methods are supported for both display and video lines: oCPM, Fixed CPM, and Fixed CPC billing. The CPCV billing method is supported for video lines alone. To learn more about line goals, see Pricing.
Bill Price Depending on the billing method specified, ad placements are sold on a fixed CPM (cost per one thousand impressions), fixed CPC (cost per click), CPCV (cost per completed view), or oCPM (optimized cost per one thousand impressions) basis. The bill price specifies rate paid.
Goal Type A goal is a line-level configuration that defines an advertising objective and a bid optimization method that supports that objective. To learn more about line goals, see <no title>.
Bid Price Specifies the bid price for the line. Depending on the goal type specified, the bid price may be defined as a CPM Price or Max CPM Price.

Important

Depending on goal type specified, the bid price is expressed in terms of a fixed CPM Price or a dynamic Max CPM Price. To learn more about goal-based constraints on bid pricing, see cpm-price.

  8. Click the Update button.

Bulk Edit Pacing

Pacing (a.k.a. line pacing or budget pacing) is a line-level configuration that specifies how a line’s daily budget is spent during a 24-hour period.

Using controls in the Bulk Line Editor, you can update line pacing configurations for multiple lines simutaneously. Lines may be configured to use even or ahead pacing in bulk:

  • Even pacing is the default mode of pacing. With even pacing, the platform optimizes line delivery so that line’s daily budget is distributed evenly throughout the day.
  • Ahead pacing provides advertisers with greater control over how line budgets are allocated during a flight by enabling them to over-pace their daily budgets.

Bulk editing is not enabled for ASAP pacing changes because ASAP pacing overrides all performance or delivery goals.

To learn more about line pacing, see Pacing

To bulk edit pacing for mulitple lines:

  1. Click the Bulk Line Editor button in the Campaign view.

The Bulk Edit Lines page appears.

  2. Select two or more lines in the line list in the Line Details tab.

  5. Choose a line pacing option in the Pacing drop-down list.

The Pacing drop-down list displays two options: Even and Ahead.

  6. Click the Update button.

Bulk Edit Variable Costs

A variable cost is a line-level business object that enables you to better manage profit margins by tracking the external costs that affect the profitability of campaigns including ad serving costs, ad verification costs, audience measurement costs, and brand safety costs.

Variable costs are calculated on a CPM basis. Every variable cost is defined by a CPM amount that specifies the amount paid per thousand impressions. For example, if you have a brand safety cost of $1.00 CPM, DSP automatically captures that cost when it calculates your margin using the total budget.

To learn more about variable costs, see variable-costs

To bulk edit variable costs for mulitple lines:

  1. Click the Bulk Line Editor button in the Campaign view.

The Bulk Edit Lines page appears.

  2. Select two or more lines in the line list in the Line Details tab.

    • Minutes, Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly—Set the number of impressions per minute, hour, day, week, or month that the ad can be shown.
    • If you choose a Daily duration, DSP serves impressions to users as soon as it detects the users. For example, if you set the frequency cap to 3X per day, you might serve 3 impressions to a user within a few minutes.
    • If you choose another duration, such as Hourly or Weekly, DSP serves x impressions per time period. For example, if you set the frequency cap to 2X per hour, you serve impressions to a user at the rate of one impression every 30 minutes.
    • If you set the frequency capping at Hourly, adding up to 24 impressions per day, unique users are not likely to be online the full 24 hours, so the end result may be 5-10 impressions per day.
  3. Set the maximum number of impressions allowed during the interval.

  4. Yahoo can only gather frequency capping data for known users. If you want to limit serving to users known to Yahoo, select the check box for Only Serve to Known Users.

Bulk Target Points of Interest

After you narrow down your geographical location targets, you can create additional targeting criteria based on based on users’ proximity to known locations for specified retail chains. Point of Interest (POI) targeting is done in real time, which means advertisers can target users when they are near one of their locations.

Target points of interest as follows:

  • Target one or more chain stores or businesses on a given line. Multiple chain selections are “OR” condition.
  • Set a target radius of 100 meters, 200 meters, 500 meters, 1 mile, 2 miles, 5 miles, or 10 miles.
  • Implement POI targeting with location based targeting (country, state, city, region) to restrict serving to locations within the specified geography.
  1. Open the hierarchy and select the chain (or chains) you want to target.

    poi-select

If you select multiple chains to target, a user can be served if they are within the specified radius for locations of any of the selected chains.

  2. Specify a target radius. A user must be less than the specified distance to a location to be served.

Bulk Target Geofenced Locations

Mobile Placement Types

You can bulk target mobile consumers using all mobile placement types (pre-roll, banner, interstitial, etc.), only interstitial ad placements, or only rewarded ad placements.

Interstitial ads are mobile placements that cover all or most of the user’s screen on an app. Typically, these ads are shown at natural transition points in the flow of the app. When an app shows an interstitial ad, the user has the choice to either tap on the ad and continue to its destination or close it and return to the app.

Rewarded ads allow users to opt-in to watching, or otherwise consuming, ads in exchange for some kind of benefit (i.e. points, lives, virtual goods, or premium content).
