Effective May 25, 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) now requires that consumers in the European Union have more control and transparency over their personal data.
Verizon Media has implemented a global approach to GDPR compliance that includes the following GDPR open demand enhancements:
- Verizon Media’s Consumer Privacy Dashboard, a one-stop portal for any Verizon Media user to view and control their how their personal data is collected and used.
- Verizon Media’s Consent Management Platform (CMP) for capturing, storing, and validating user consent status across Verizon Media platforms.
- Consumer Tracking Software, Content-specific settings across website pixels and SDKs, integrated directly into Verizon Media’s CMP and aligned with IAB guidelines.
- OpenRTB Enhancements, Updated SSPs and DSPs to pass consent parameters in each bid request.
GDPR consent compliance involves updating your sites and apps to include a consent capture interface. Verizon Media provides a free consent UI as part of the Verizon Media Consent Management Platform (CMP). Consent information is then stored by the CMP in the IAB format as a first-party cookie in the user’s browser.
Using Verizon Media’s CMP is optional. However, as a trusted technology partner to publishers around the globe, Verizon Media offers expertise and the Verizon Media CMP, free of charge, to our publisher clients. For details, see Managing GDPR Consent with Verizon Media.
