Editor's note: This is a guest post from the team that developed the PayPal application on Yahoo! Mail. As part of the launch of new open applications for users of My Yahoo! and Yahoo! Mail, we asked all of the app developers to introduce themselves and talk about building their apps on Yahoo!'s open platforms.
PayPal here with some exciting news! Our Request/Send Money app is now integrated with the new and improved Yahoo! Mail. We believe that requesting and sending money to friends and family should be painless ? no unnecessary hassles, and with this new integration, requesting and sending money to friends just got easier.
There plenty of ways to use Request/Send Money. Users can request money from within Yahoo! and an email is sent to their friends. In addition, customers in the U.S. can request and send money from Yahoo! Mail free to friends and family, conveniently with just a few clicks. The app also allows customers to request or send money to anyone in 19 different currencies across the globe; eliminating the risk and hassle of money transfer or cashing checks in different currencies.
Here?s how it works: If users have a PayPal account, they can click on the Request/Send Money button on the Yahoo! Mail sidebar. For requesting money, all they need to know is the email address or phone number of the payer. Then they insert the amount and a description of the request. The form is automatically inserted into the email and the user hits send to request the money. For sending money, the user goes through the similar format and select the payment method of-choice (bank, balance or credit card). From there, they will be redirected to the PayPal site where they will confirm payment?and that?s it, they?re done!
In the U.S., anyone can send money to friends and family for free when they fund their payment with a bank account or PayPal balance. However, credit card payments incur a small percentage fee that?s paid to the credit card company. Senders have the option to pay the fee upfront or pass the fee on to the receiver.
PayPal has over 73 million active account holders and operates in 190 markets. PayPal allows users to pay any way they prefer ? through credit cards, bank accounts, buyer credit, or account balances ? without sharing valuable financial information. All payments made through PayPal are secure. We never share personal financial information and we confirm all payment details as soon as money is sent.
Try it out and let us know what you think. To check out this new app, sign up here.
