Today, Flickr released new real-time web APIs that enable developers to build new kinds of real-time applications. Until now, developers couldn't get real-time access to Flickr's high-quality imagery.
The new API continuously searches millions of new photos a day, delivering new and updated photos in real-time to developers, who can subscribe to photos by geographic area, photo metadata or based on social tagging like favoriting and friend-tagging.
The API also enables real-time updates from over 50 institutions participating in the Flickr Commons, such as NASA, The Library of Congress, and the National Archives of the U.S. and U.K.
