Submission Guidelines
Yahoo! selects a limited set of high-quality Open Applications to feature in the Apps Gallery of Yahoo! homepage (www.yahoo.com) and the Add Content section of My Yahoo!. Yahoo! will select these featured applications from the pool of applications that have been reviewed and approved.
Note: If your application has been approved, it does not automatically appear in the Apps Gallery of Yahoo! homepage or the Add Content section of My Yahoo!. Yahoo! makes an editorial decision to feature an application on these sites.
If your application conforms to the following guidelines, it has a better chance of being featured on the Yahoo! homepage and My Yahoo!:
- The application has the following meta data: Name (title), Description, Categories, Tags, Screenshot URL, Favicon URL, Yahoo.com Icon, and Gallery Icon URL. To set this meta data, go to the Edit App Info window of the Application Editor.
- The length of the Description is less than 43 characters.
- The images specified for the Screenshot, Favicon, and other URLs have the correct pixel dimensions. (See Optimizing Your Application for the Gallery for details.)
- The Canvas and Small views use a fluid layout.
- The application creates and/or displays Yahoo! updates.
- The application has viral features for distribution. (See Application Distribution for suggestions.)
- The Small view displays up-to-date information relevant to the user or the application. For example, the Small view might display the top scores of friends, the latest news item, or dashboard information. (You can create dynamic Small views with the yml:a and yml:include tags.)
- The contact information of the application's developer is accurate and current. To check this information, go to Yahoo! Profiles and select the Account Info tab.
- The application follows the Yahoo! Terms of Use and Yahoo! Guidelines.
For step-by-step instructions on how to submit your application to Yahoo!, see the tutorial section, Submitting Your Application for Review.
