This section provides detailed descriptions of all screens in the flow for creating presentation applications. For general information about presentation applications, refer to “Creating Presentation Applications”.
The outline of the procedure is as follows:
Enter the application's basic info, such as its name and description.
Add application's trigger and test URLs.
Select the application's data services.
Specify the application's appearance using PHP.
Confirm the application.
To create a new presentation application, go to the Application Dashboard and click Create a new application. The Basic Info screen appears.
The first step of creating a presentation application is to agree to the Terms of Service and specify the application's name, type, and description. The name and description are displayed to other developers and end users, while the type determines how your application displays data.
Name — Specifies the name of your presentation application. This is the name that SearchMonkey displays in your Application Dashboard and in the public Gallery.
Type — Selects whether you are creating an Enhanced Result application or an Infobar application.
indicates that the application reconfigures the search result, replacing the default result entirely.
indicates that the application augments the search result, appearing underneath the default result.
You can change the type at any time before publishing your application. For more information about these presentation types, refer to “Presentation Templates”.
Description — Provides a short
description of what your application does for users who might add
your presentation application to their profile. Ideally, you should
describe the scope of your application and the type of data it
displays. For example, "Displays user-supplied contact
information from pages in the FooSocialNetwork.com social
networking site, including IM, Twitter, and Skype
info."
Category — Selects a category for your
application, such as Finance or
Academic.
Icon — Uploads a 16x16 pixel image to represent your application in Yahoo! search results, providing an additional visual signal to users that your application has triggered. If your site has a favicon, this image is an ideal choice.
Terms of Service — Indicates that you have read and agreed to the Yahoo! Terms of Service. You must agree to both policies in order to continue.
— Saves your changes and continues to “Step 2: URLs”.
— Returns to the Application Dashboard.
