The last step of creating a presentation application is publication. You can publish a version of your application to other Yahoo! users, and optionally submit it for inclusion in the public Search Gallery. Most of the fields on this page are optional, but if you are submitting your application to the Gallery, it is a good idea to fill out as much as you can.
Publish — Selects whether you want to make your application sharable, or make your application sharable and submit it to the Search Gallery. Until you publish your application, your application is still a considered a "dev" application, a private application usable only by you.
After you make your application sharable, you will acquire a button (or "badge") that you can use to promote your application on your site. Clicking on the badge takes users to their Yahoo! Search preferences screen, where they may choose to add your application. You can use badges to help spread your application virally.
If you submit your site to the public Search Gallery, your application goes through a manual approval process. Space in the Gallery is limited, so applications are only accepted if they have high-quality code and a large potential audience.
If you have already published this application before, re-publishing it grants all users access to any improvements or bugfixes you have made to your code. For more information about publication and versioning, refer to “Presentation Application Versioning”.
Source Code — Selects whether other SearchMonkey developers may view your source code and incorporate that code into their own applications. By default, the only way for other developers to access your code is for you to manually export your application to an encrypted file, which other developers can then import into their own Application Dashboard.
Name — Specifies the name of your presentation application. This field provides you with one last chance to update the name before final publication.
Description — Provides a short description of what your application does for users who might add your presentation application to their profile. Ideally, you should describe the scope of your application and the type of data it displays. This field provides you with one last chance to fill out or update the description before final publication.
Icon — Uploads a 16x16 pixel image to represent your application in Yahoo! search results, providing an additional visual signal to users that your application has triggered. If your site has a favicon, this image is an ideal choice.
Logo — Uploads a 85x85 pixel image to represent your application or your site.
Image Domains — Specifies one or more domains that your application's images may come from. For example, an application for a restaurant review site could indicate here that images only come from the restaurant review site's domain. This field is a factor for submitting to the Gallery.
Link Domains — Specifies one or more domains that your application's links may point to. For example, an application for a shopping site could indicate here that links only point to pages in the shopping site's domain, and one other partner site. This field is a factor for submitting to the Gallery.
Contact Email — Selects your preferred email address that Yahoo! should use to contact you about your application. The list of options includes your Yahoo! Mail address and any other email addresses associated with your Yahoo! ID. This email address is not exposed to third-party developers or anyone else outside of Yahoo!, and is not used for marketing purposes. This email address is only used by the Yahoo! SearchMonkey team to contact you if there are any issues with your application.
If you do not have any email addresses associated with your Yahoo! ID, SearchMonkey prompts you to edit your account information and add an email address.
Locale — Selects the locales in which you want your application to appear. Most applications are only appropriate for a restricted set of locales, depending on the primary languages that the application uses.
Site Explorer — Enables you to submit the application to Yahoo! Site Explorer, which starts a process for proving that you are the owner of the site specified by your Trigger URL Pattern. This field is a factor for submitting to the Gallery.
Next Step — Creates a public, sharable version of your application according to the parameters specified above. This grants all users access to any improvements or bugfixes you have made to your code.
— Saves your changes and returns to “Step 5: Confirmation”.
— Returns to the Application Dashboard.
