Other Inbox was very fortunate to be one of the first partners working on Yahoo! Mail applications. We've now developed four applications that have reached millions of users and I can't imagine how we could have achieved this kind of distribution in just two years. It would have been hard even if we paid for it, but as part of the Application Gallery we were able to attract more than a million customers for free!
We're now experts at the Yahoo! Mail Development Platform and can quickly implement applications and get them deployed and into production. Our first application was Automatic Organizer - the cure for email overload. Without you doing anything differently, Automatic Organizer finds your Amazon receipts, special offers, and Facebook messages and files them into folders so that they don't clutter your Inbox. More than a million users have signed up. Automatic Organizer takes advantage of the largest range of YMDP functionality - it has an interactive application within Yahoo! Mail and also operates extensively in the background by communicating with the Yahoo! Mail API.
Our second application was Unsubscriber - the easiest way to stop unwanted messages. If you see a message you don't want, you just put it in the Unsubscribe folder. How could it get any easier than that? We take care of the rest. Unsubscriber just launched a few months ago but its already growing as fast as Automatic Organizer.
The Yahoo! Mail team has been incredibly supportive from day one. They want to see third parties like you and me innovating on top of the mail platform. They don't just want a thousand crappy apps - they want to create high quality integrations and are willing to tweak things here or there when it will really make for a great user experience.
In the process we learned a lot about working with Yahoo users. We spent months A/B testing our signup page without having an impact, and then suddenly one change made the conversion rate double! We know what a regular holiday traffic dip looks like and when to dig in and look for a problem. And we've learned how to keep users happy so they stay active and invite their friends.
The Yahoo! Mail platform has been very good to us - we plan on continuing to invest in it heavily. As the largest and most open email provider in the world, nobody can offer the same opportunity for a new startup to reach millions and millions of users.

Our application was built using the Yahoo! Mail APIs and we were able to release this application quickly and easily. Our development team worked with the Yahoo! Mail team to develop and release Attach Large Files in less than a month. The Yahoo! Mail platform is the one to build on if you’re interested to expose your application to millions of potential users.
Launched in January 2011 YouSendIt Attach Large Files has been used by almost 5 Million Yahoo! Mail users to send millions of files. The application comes preinstalled for Yahoo! Mail users in all English, Spanish, German, French and Italian speaking countries. Through our application users can quickly and easily upload large files and folders up to 2GB, send large media files, and share high-res photos and videos with family and friends via Yahoo! Mail.
