Can't "Push Live" ... Gone all Wonky Error

Hi ...

I made a simple application which works fine in preview mode. However when I click the "Push Live" button it thinks for a second and then flashes up the message "Sorry, an error occurred". When I view the response being returned by the underlying request it has in it:

CODE
<strong>Something's gone all wonky.</strong>

Seems like we're having some minor technical difficulties.

Please try again in a minute.

It's been like this for several hours now. Is this something to do with my application or is something inside YAP broken?

Thanks!

Simon.

  • Hi Simon,

Are you still experiencing this issue? If so:
    - Are you able to render this application in the developer preview mode?
    - Are you able to push other applications live besides this one?

Just to test I made a brand new application with the default text in the small view and an Application URL that just returns the text '<p>Hello World</p>'. I made no changes to permissions or any other settings. It saves and renders fine in preview but I get exactly the same response when I try to 'push live'. (a briefly flashed up message box saying "sorry, error occurred").

Any ideas? From what you're saying it sounds like others are not experiencing this. I might try making a new Yahoo account and seeing if I can push live from there. Should I log a bug somewhere to supply more details? Happy to help in any way. Let me know anything else I can do!

    Simon.

  • Just following up on this thread: I made a new Yahoo account and tried to push live exactly the same application and it worked fine.

I still can't do the same for even the simplest application from my old account. So there seems to be something wrong with that old account. For context - I created an app in that old account very early on - as soon as YAP was announced a long time ago. After that I didn't touch it until just now. So - I wonder if some setting or other parameter has not updated correctly in my Yahoo account?

Anyway, I can do it from the new account, so I suppose I will just do that for now.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Simon,

Can you attach your old account user id please? We don't have a public bug tracking system for YAP so I'll go ahead and file a bug for your account id when I get into the office in the AM.

There was an issue several months ago where developers lost access to their accounts, so this might have to do with that. Just to narrow down if this is the issue:
    - When did you create your application on YAP?
    - How long have you had your old account for (approximate)?

    Thanks,
    Jon

The full email of the account is ssadedin(at)yahoo(dot)com - it's an account I have had for a very long time ( since 1997 maybe?).

The first app I created was just after launch - not sure exactly but it would have been end of October 2008. I don't think the app was ever pushed 'live', I just played in the sandbox. I didn't create any more apps until last week when I started having this problem.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Hi Simon,

I'm filing the bug now and there was just one thing that the YAP engineers may need - do you have your app id and guid (obtained through profiles.yahoo.com then click on the "My Profile" tab and it'll be in the URL) handy? They'll probably want to run requests using that data. Sorry for the back and forth there.

Guid from profiles URL is DLXRXDJ43CK7S6G6X2TCUQDNBM and app id is 1IOQIa4o (I assume that is the id from URLs for the app). Of course, any app I make in that account is failing to push live, so this app id is just an example of one.

    Thanks & Cheers,
