Unable to access new registered OAuth key

Hi,

I registered a new OAuth developer key today. After the process is done, I was unable to access all my OAuth keys from my dashboard.
Clicking on the link on "Application Name" in dashboard just keep bringing me back to the dashboard.

  • Hi Yenwen Feng,

What is the app id of the application that is giving you these problems?

  • Hello Jon

    I have the same problem.
In the dashboard section for Oauth apps I see a list with the application name, the application type and the creation date.
When I click on the application name of an entry, I am redirected back to the dashboard and no details about this app are shown.
So I never see any keys.

One example for such an Oauth application link is:
    https://developer.yahoo.com/dashboard/keyDe...ml?key=mtgZxh34

I tried in multiple browsers with and without javascript, but no luck.

I can see my General Access Applications and my BBAuth applications just fine.

Thank you for any hints on what to do

  • Hi h2a.sourcecreative,

Can you please provide me with:
    a. Your GUID
    b. The application id's for every app that you are seeing the problem with

As soon as I get those I'll contact the appropriate teams to work on fixing the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Hello Jon

I am afraid I don't know what a GUID is in regards to Yahoo services, so where do I find that?

Since I can't see any details for the oAuth apps I can't give you the application ids, sorry.
For testing I just created another oAuth application - once I fill in all the form fields and click on 'get api key'
I get the dashboard with the new oAuth app added, but I never see any application id.

  • Hi Claudia,

For the app id's, if you hover over the application name on the dashboard you should see the key's in the links (e.g. https://developer.yahoo.com/dashboard/keyDe...s.html?key=#KEY HERE#

For your GUID, if you go to http://profiles.yahoo.com/ and click on the "My Profile" tab that should already be highlighted your GUID will be exposed in the url (e.g. http://profiles.yahoo.com/u/##GUID HERE##

    Thanks,
    Jon

  • I believe I already have one of your application keys from the url you posted above: mtgZxh34

  • Hi Jon

    My GUID is B3C274NXZAQPJQWTIOMF22QADY.

    Here some application ids:
    NUiTD75g
    ge9nBB6s
    mtgZxh34
    qBtMXX42

I have implemented by application (a simple contact grabber) with BBAuth by now, so I can live without any OAuth apps for now.

    Hi Jon,

    Sorry for the late reply.

    My GUID is: 6LPTMEC4HCIEN2SYNWGJIM7FAY.
the app ids are x42ahG34, lanjqT6k.

BTW, if I want to register my domain (for example: abc.com) as an OAuth application, do I need to register the sub domains as different Oauth applications as well ? (tw.abc.com, en.abc.com ...)

Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Thanks Yenwen Feng, I'll add your applications to the bug list. If you want to bypass the issues on the apps right now you should be able to create a new application with the same application details. New applications aren't experiencing the same issues.

Regarding the url for OAuth applications, you should be able to create a single OAuth application for all sub domains. I believe there is just an initial verification step that will read from the root domain but after that you should be fine using the same key/secret pair. Let me know if you run into any issues with the verification steps.

  • Hi Jon,

I'm able to create a new application. But after the verification process, I'm still not able to open the link to my new application on the dashboard. (so that I still cannot see my key and secret).

BTW, I've tried to apply the OAuth application to sub domains and found out that Yahoo! requires the Oauth return URL to be the same domain of applications.

For example, If I register abc.com in OAuth, the return URL that I passed to Yahoo! must be start with http://abc.com/..., so I can't use the application in sub domains.

  • My apologies for leading you astray on the sub domain issue - I neglected to factor in the OAuth verification steps, but thanks for letting me know.

Regarding the other issue - just so that I'm clear, every time you create a new OAuth application now you are restricted from accessing the application details (fully locked out)?

As I have the same problem I just tested that: I just created a new oAuth app (key=hofnpT78) . After clicking on the 'Get Api Key' button I get back to the dashboard where the new application is added, but every time I click on the link I am redirected to the dashboard again.

When I check the HTTP headers when clicking on the details link I get 302 header back with /dashboard/ as location.

  • I've heard back about this issue and all the GUID's posted in this message are in the queue to be fixed. Please let us know if this hasn't been fixed within a 2-3 week timeframe.
