JavaScript control of Yahoo Music Player

Given the sample HTML code to place a Yahoo music player in a web page, how do I add JavaScript to allow me to pause and resume from external buttons. The documentation says there are vidPlay() and vidPause() methods, but the object downloaded does not expose these methods. What do I have to do to get access?
