I have just run some tests, and found an interesting problem. When a Microsoft Excel file is attached to a Yahoo mail message, the MIME type associated with the file is
application/excel, not the officially registered MIME type of
application/vnd.ms-excel. This causes problems on some systems as the excel file is not recognized as an excel file when the message is received due to the incorrect MIME type.
Has anybody else run into this issue, and how many other file types are assigned incorrect MIME types by Yahoo Mail?
