If it is mandatory then maybe it is time to change

I tried to attach a file today and got the info about having to download this app/program whatever. I am getting tired of Yahoo trying to sneak toolbars and such into my system that I am just losing faith. It may be time to migrate somewhere else. I will look for a work around but somehow I doubt this will be an option.

  • Hi JS,

The purpose of the BrowserPlus download in mail is to make it easier to attach files. With BrowserPlus, you can attach more than 1 file at a time (which is handy for photos), drag + drop files from the desktop directly into the attachment area, as well as resize + rotate photos. I understand about not wanting to download new software, so we do our best to keep BrowserPlus out of the way. The software only ever runs when you are on a site that uses it. Otherwise, it sits quietly on disk, and doesn't take up too much space.

  • And the project is open source, so people can see and understand how it works -- more importantly to you, they can ensure that the software is performing *only* its advertised functions. And we've (well, my teammate gordon has) spent a *ton* of time making sure that when you click "uninstall" we go away quietly and completely, with the humble hope that you'll come back at some point as you realize that BrowserPlus gives your mail attachments wings!

  • Thanks for the reply's and explanations,

My issue is that I prefer a streamline system and prefer not to have "bloatware" that provides data and info to aid in the on going competition between the browsers, search engine, and operating system organizations.

I really do not need all the fancy stuff and do not want to be aided in online social networking mumbo jumbo. All I am asking is that there be an option to use "classic" yahoo mail with out undesired extras. I do agree that maybe one day I will examine new offerings as I have been with Yahoo for MANY years and never had any major problems.

Again Thanks for noticing and replying.
