Yahoo search API just stopped working

The Yahoo Search API (the old one, not BOSS) seems to have just stopped returning search results. There are no errors; i just get back XML with zero entries for all queries. This is for an application that's been working for years.

Query:

http://search.yahooapis.com/WebSearchServi...&query=cars

Response:

  • Now the API seems to be returning valid search results again. Looks like a transient outage at the Yahoo end.

    The bad thing is that, when it fails, there's no error indication. It returns valid XML with zero search hits.

  • Yesterday morning at that time the Yahoo! Search backend was experiencing some problems. As you noticed, it corrected itself withing 15-20 minutes and services were restored.
