PHP Latest Version - Not

I am sure that this topic has been covered before, but my search of this forum did not reveal anything.
I am looking into running PHP scripts on my Yahoo hosted site and did a little test only to discover that the PHP interpreter running on the host is version 4.3.11
Most of the documentation on PHP refers to PHP5 and this is the standard I wish to use, especially on my localhost is installed (for testing) PHP5.
What are the plans for Yahoo to upgrade the PHP version?
What are the issues with the upgrade, and are there any plans to deal with PHP6 when it is released?
