Hi,

I have an application, there user can schedule their status messages. Before they schedule they want to authorize themselves to the yahoo.

What my requirement is

1. When user authorizing to yahoo, i need to store the users data and access_token to my database
2. I have a linux cron job, based on user schdule, it will update the users status message

I need to develop this app in php.

is the two abpve tasks possible? and storing the access_token is suggestable?

I think my server IP has been banned by yahoo, but yesterday I have change my ip server and error 999 again.. :(Anyone know how to create yahoo detect online and offline using yahoo messenger API? I will use PHP. Thanks

hey, just a quick note, maybe it will help somebody else as well -

in the second message, in the PHP example, with CURL, the guy uses TXT file called "accessToken.txt".
you need to make it first.

I made it by adding these few lines in file /lib/Yahoo.inc,

after the line ~595, function name "function initSession",
when you get the $accessToken variable for the first time, you should JSON it and write to a txt file (or a database, if you prefer, like I do):

so, when you see this line:

$accessToken = $sessionStore->fetchAccessToken();

just add these few lines bellow:

$jsoned_token = json_encode($accessToken);

and that's it! that's how you get the file which you can use to JSON_DECODE later in the example that the guy in the second post was talking about.

i'm doing an application that collects updates from users and then sends these updates as their Yahoo! statuses.

the problem is the access token expires every 1 hour and whenever i try to run the code from the YOS java api that refreshes the access token, it always says "token_rejected"

so my question is:

is there a way to get a permanent access token for a certain user ? if there isn't a way, what am i doing wrong in the refresh procedure ? (code snippet is below, the only thing worth mentioning, is that the session handle isn't retrieved correctly for some reason so it is saved as a blank string)

I'm having the same problem as well. I am able to get the user's GUID, Status, and Profile information, but when I try to update the Status, I get:

I'm able to get status and contacts from Yahoo API using oAuth but when I try to update the status, it gives me a 403 Forbidden.

When I create a project, I set the scopes (permissions) with Read/Write and Full access for every Yahoo API.
I set the user I'm testing to allow update the status but still getting this error.

I don't know what else to do.

Hope someone could assist me.

I using statement : yahoo.messenger.status (but this query can't detect invisible user)

When online networks can offer services where you can get "invisible" status, they are getting
the information somehow, programatically.

Why then Yahoo do not offer this status to us, developers and let us build what already others
are using ?

We don't have an API available for messages unfortunately, but several developers have had luck with a product called libPurple: http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/WhatIsLibpurple

You may want to look into that, but we won't be able to support you with it.

I was wondering if it is possible to build an app that would translate / retrieve presence from Yahoo Messenger and post it to a SIP presence client.

Basically, if I am signed in to a SIP presence client, can I somehow retrieve the list of all my Yahoo Messenger buddies and receive their presence information?

How to Check user (online|offline|invisible)?
My every time I sign in into my messenger my friend notify me that i am Invisible, I need to create this tool for my website.

1- How to get an API for detecting Yahoo User (online|offline|invisible)?
2- How to connect with yahoo, by using PHP

hmmm are you setting the content type for the request? In the case of the PHP SDK it's set to "application/json". If the exploration of the content type doesn't produce results, can you try adding HTML entities for the space ( ). I'm thinking that the string is being url encoded and then output as plain text (which should be the content type setting).

Ok i managed to update the status. The problem was the OAuth libraries, they
did not support the PUT operation. So i basically got the latest ones and it works.
However when i put my new status eg 'thello his is a new status', this updates, however
when i check my profile page it says 'hello%20this%20is%20a%20new%20status .
it seems as though it is not decoded on the yahoo end?
any ideas?

I am using java oauth libraries to try and update the user status. My code works for "GET", so i end up with the user's status.
