Is there really no way to be able to see if a given player has a game scheduled on a given date via the API?

For example, if I have Albert Pujols, I want to be able to see if the Angels have a game scheduled today. If they do, I would display the opponent and game start time.

I haven't been able to figure out where this is. I can't believe that they don't have this somewhere in the API, if that's the case, consider my mind blown. They WILL show player notes, if they're in the starting lineup, recently posted player notes, and pictures... but not this? What am I missing?

In addition, I find it ridiculous that the Yahoo JSON responses are inconsistently formatted such that the array indexes are different for a player is on the DL. That's just unacceptable.

I've found recently that about half of my requests have super long response times (~20 seconds). The other half come back pretty much instantly (~200 ms). I can make the exact same request back-to-back, and sometimes it will take forever, and sometimes it will be super fast. Am I being throttled somehow or is there an issue with the web service?

For example, I make a request and get this in the metadata:time="20097.651958466ms"

then I make it again a few seconds later and get this:time="200.96898078918ms"

Any idea what's going on?

Hello everyone-

First post here but surely not the last!

I am working with a fantastic overseas developer on a brand new fantasy football website and need some technical help using the YFF API hopefully as our data source.

Our site is called RotoChatter.com and we will put out a free weekly fantasy picks contest and track the results in order to allow fantasy geeks to show their knowledge. We will be asking our users to pick from group of 4 NFL players per question whom they believe will score the most fantasy points for that week within that group. We would like to pull not only the player data (name/team) but also the real time fantasy points scored for each of those players and display them as the games are occurring.

So here are my intro questions:1) Can we do this (our site is coded in php/mysql)2) If so, are there common scripts that we can apply3) Is there a standard yahoo fantasy scoring system that needs to be applied? Can this be adjusted? 4) Do we need a current Yahoo fantasy league to access the data from or can it be done solely as an outsider?5) When will the current teams and rosters be updated? Is this done automatically as the season progresses or do we have to do manual changes?

Thanks for any help we can get!

JEFFRotoChatter.com

I'm trying to to retrieve a teams stats for multiple dates. Currently, I can only get stats for one date at a time, IE:

http://fantasysports.yahooapis.com/fantasy/v2/team/{TEAM ID}/stats;type=date;date=2013-04-22

I've tried passing the date param as '2013-04-22,2013-04-23,2013-04-25' thinking it may query on yahoo's end returning these 3 days results. No luck, I just get a bad request back.

I'm thinking this is not doable, but thought I'd ask anyways.

That code is the oauth_verifier. Did you use 'oob' as the $callback parameter in step 2? If you instead provide a callback url, the oauth_verifier will be passed to the callback url as a query string parameter, and the user will never see it.

Try this guide: http://developer.yahoo.com/oauth/guide/oau...w_tutorial.html

The above url is not working please help meThank you

Thanks for posting this code, but I seem to be running into a problem in the reg_user step. I set up my consumer key and secret in the auth.csv file, then after running

response = requests.post(REQUEST_TOKEN_URL, params={'oauth_callback': CALLBACK_URL}, hooks={'pre_request': init_oauth_hook})

if I recreate this manually, I get the following values in response

response.text=u'oauth_problem=parameter_absent&oauth_parameters_absent=oauth_consumer_key,oauth_signature_method,oauth_signature,oauth_timestamp,oauth_nonce'

response.reason='Authorization Required'

Are additional parameters required in the request? If so, how do you set them (sorry I'm not familiar with oauth).

Thanks again.

It would be really helpful to include the projected stats (read: I don't have time to re-create a projection model). The logic behind the projections can be argued, I'm sure, but they do provide a reasonable metric to guage future value, which is what any fantasy owner is trying to determine. I guess I'll stick with my archaic copy/paste/VBA methodology to analyzing projected data against my current roster.
