service administration contact?

I am having trouble contacting the Yahoo Placemaker adminstrators.
I have been using the Placemaker service for quite some time now, but lately I receive this error:

HTTP/1.1 999 Unable to process request at this time

I suspect our ip address is blocked, and I'd like to find out why and what I can do about it. The error page refers to this web form for contact:

http://arc.help.yahoo.com/arc/?.intl=us&am...h.re4.yahoo.com

But it does not seem to work: "A problem occurred trying to file your report. We apologize for the inconvenience (6)."

What is the proper way to contact the service administration?

I'm sorry you are having problems accessing the Placemaker Web Service and reporting the problem. The 999 error code indicates that you have sent too many requests and that you need to wait before you send more.

This forum would be the proper way to report such problems. If you see this problem again, please note the time of the request and report it. If you can provide the IP address of the client machine as well, it will help us to investigate the problem.

I'm having the same issue, where I have a database of text and I'm trying to determine the location of the text. I have a script that runs and sleeps for random seconds between each request but I get the 999 message. Can you let me know the guidelines for how many request and how fast, I would greatly appreciate it. I only have to do this once but I need to do about 100k records.

    Thanks!

  • We have been using the service for several months now, and never got the 999 errors until last Friday. Since then, we have not been able to send more than a few requests per day.

In the current situation, we would like to send up to 25,000 requests a day. If I understand correctly, there is no official rate limit, although I saw the number of 50,000 requests a day somewhere on the forum. I also noticed that other people seem to have this problem as well. Twitter user blprnt wrote:

Is it possible that you check rate limits in another way than you used to?
What are the rate limits at the moment?
Could you advise me on the number of seconds I should wait between requests?

I'd rather not publish my ip address and / or Yahoo App Id online. It would be great if someone from Yahoo Geo could send me an email at sprompers [at] match4jobs [dot] com so I can reply with more details.

    Thanks in advance

We identified a problem with our usage tracking software that resulted in some users being limited in their access to Placemaker. The problem has been fixed and you should be able to send up to 50,000 requests every 24 hours. If you continue to see 999 errors and your daily requests are below this limit, please let us know.
