Developer wanted - help switching from Maps Geocoding API to PlaceFinder

I own a small business and have two websites being affected.  I no longer have a developer and the Geocoding API he setup does not appear to work any longer. (stopped working yesterday)  Yahoo says PlaceFinder has replaced Geocoding API and suggests that a developer on this forum may be willing to adjust the code on my current page to make it work again.  I already know my YDN appid will work on PlaceFinder.  Please respond... ask questions, whatever it takes. I am not a developer.

  • Are you still having isues? - I ran into the same thing - I fixed my interface - Do you know what your site was built with?

  • No chuck, I do not know what it was built with.  The developer I had at the time wrote code using the XML response from Geofinder API.  I know that Placefinder also provides an XML response, but I think the Placefinder field names are not the same as Geofinder API.  So, replacing the Geofinder API URL with the Placefinder URL in my code would only be part of the fix.  Needless to say, I'm still dead in the water.

    I was also burned by the shutdown, but was able to recover using updated code I wrote a few months earlier.

  • This issue has been resolved.  Thank you for your assistance. It took several days but we're up and running again!  Yeah!
