European Issues?

Greetings!

Questions:
1. Are there any issues or concerns with developing and/or just using widgets in Europe? How about anywhere else outside the U.S.?
2. Do European TVs support Yahoo widgets at all or significantly differently in any way?

Thanks!

There should be no concerns. You can localize the Widget with different languages. Part of the submission process is declaring the countries you want the Widget available in.

Nope it is the same -> just different interface languages.

Thank you for the reply. What is meant by "just different interface languages"?

Both of these can be answered with the same response. In an ideal world scenario, all TVs around the world would have no differences as far as developing a widget is concerned except for supporting the languages of the countries in those markets. We don't live in an ideal world though so there are differences in what firmware, engine versions, and/or framework versions are deployed. We are working to better normalize that and are urging OEMs to approve updated in a more timely manor, but those things take time. Via the gallery, we can easily specify minimum requirements so it practice it's not an issue as long as you work with us directly to ensure the functionality you need is either available in the framework version deployed or you have include the needed code inside your widget to make it work.
