Adobe Flash support with Intel Atom CE4100

So the Intel Atom CE4100 will support Adobe Flash Player 10.

Does this mean that the widget framework will allow the embedding of Flash content? or even Adobe AIR apps?
I hope so! And if so, do you imagine there will be any kind of restrictions?

(I notice the 'Flash' question has been asked a number of times, but not with reference to the Intel Atom CE4100)

  • I can't speculate on future offerings.

My own personal view is that there isn't a single shipping Intel CE* based device, either TV or set-top box, so I focus my energy and efforts as a developer on platforms which actually ship units, especially ones in bulk. As a developer, I want my efforts to be spent on products which users can actually use, so without a shipping product it makes that difficult. Again, just personal views, not representative of anything but myself.

  • Boooo Flash....

I hope they never add Flash support. :DI imagine it will happen at some time, but I hope the OEM's take the same approach to Flash that Apple has with the iPhone.

  • I received a Vizio 552 with 'Vizio Internet Apps' about a week ago. On the side of the box it says "VIA incorporates the Yahoo! Widget Engine and includes Adobe Flash Technology to deliver the best of the web on your HDTV". Can anyone shed some light on the hardware in the Vizio 552? Is Adobe Flash supported?

  • Yahoo! TV widgets do not support Flash. Period. It doesn't matter what a chip manufacturer supports, we don't support it. I apologize for being blunt here, but I feel I need to aggressively make that point since it seems there is confusion.

  • Jeremy or whoever knows,

You last answered this question two years ago.  Is the answer still the same today?
