Yahoo! Music API and applets

This is my first post: I've been listening to a launchcast station of mine for a while now, and I think it would be interesting to take a yahoo music station and build a Java applet, that would basically be a new player, but one in which I could modify the buttons/controls and how the music image is displayed, etc.

Is it possible, using the Music API, to build an applet like this? (and has someone done something like this before?)

Sorry if this is a very newbie question, but I'm still learning this material, and I'd like to learn more about this.
