Trying to figure out how to answer this one.
I have the answer, but I need to find a way to respond without giving away our IP. For now all I can say is that:
What local.yahoo.com reads for default sorting 'relevance' and what YDN reads for the same parameters may not be the same. Hence, the differences.
I will also try to figure out a way for you to get the same results, but no guarantees. (It may require changes at YDN and internal Local API server code.)

Search results on Yahoo Local website are by default sorted by 'Top Results' which are different from result set sorted by 'Distance' and 'Highest Rated'. Yahoo Local API offers 'sort' parameter, but only supports 'relevance', 'distance' , 'rating' and 'title'. I have tried all the four sort options supported by the API but not able to get the same result set. Is there a way to get the search API results which match the Yahoo local website search results sorted by 'Top Results'?
