Video playback issues on Ubuntu 10.04

Hi All,

I installed SDK successfully. When I launch Simulator "Application --> TV Widgets --> 540 Latest Production--> 540 Latest Production Simulator" I see snippets in Dock area.
When I go to "Video Sample" and hit "Enter" on keyboard, it launches Video Sample Sidebar. Under this items are

Play Video # 1
Play Video # 2
..
..
When I select "Play Video #1" (or any other) it launches screen and on the right top corner I see small circle and it just stays there and seems like hang there. Nothing else appear on screen. Screen has default black background.

Is this the correct behavior? What video is it supposed to play? is there something wrong with my hardware?

Thanks
Hema

  • I installed the yahoo widgets on my linux and got the sample
and ran with the simulator (540 latest production simulator).
It loads the dock, the side bar and when I click on the file to play from my url where
I know there are videos. The application just hangs -

    I used the MediaPlayerSample widget.

I changed the files to play in core/api.js file.
The error message I get at the end of the console is

"Checking if input id exists 2" !! STOP PLAYING MEDIA FILE

right after that file doesn't play.

I know the url works as we have the same file being streamed on different devices.

  • I was wondering if the tv widgets will work on ubuntu 10.04 build.
I am unable the built in Mediaplayer widget that comes with the simulator.
Please help. When I click on the video - it goes to a black screen and the terminal prints
    "STOP PLAYiNG THE MEDIA"

Ubuntu 10.04 is not supported for video playback at this time due to a gstreamer issue. I'd recommend following our getting started tutorial and hence using a supported Ubuntu version.

Three different posts in a short time period, all on the same issue is a bit excessive, don't you think? I've merged the posts together into a common thread.

I couldn't downgrade to 8.1 from 10.04 so I used VM virtual box to install 8.1 then started playing the MediaSample the playback wasn't smooth at all.
It stuttered all the time. Is it recommended to run in VM Virtual box or it is preferred to run in native linux mode.
    thanks

  • I installed 8.10 ubuntu, downloaded the WDK and when I ran the debian file,
    it said
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libsdl-image 1.2
and I couldn't install the package.

    Did anyone hit this issue?
    thanks
