Unable to launch com.yahoo.widget.tv.container

I had to reinstall the WDK in a fresh copy of ubuntu 10.04 (latest). I had it working perfectly fine before on this same version. Now after I installed it, when I try the latest production model simulator I get the following error on the simulator, not allowing me to see the sample widgets. The other simulators work fine. Anyone can explain why this happens and what should I do to correct this issue?

  • Yahoo! Connected TV recommends using Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS (end of life date: April 2011) for running the Simulator as suggested in the install documentation: http://developer.yahoo.com/connectedtv/ins..._Simulator.html

    Try installing Ubuntu 8.0.4 and running the Simulator.

  • Just "reset" then "update" the simulator you are using.

    That will happen when the simulator has not pulled in the required platform code.

    Just realize, using Ubuntu 10.04 means you won't be able to test widgets which use video playback at this time.

    We aren't able to test widgets with video in any of our 8.04 simulators... We have five separate installs and now of them work.

    Any thoughts on what we might be doing wrong? It goes to launch the video screen and then dies with a black screen and will not move any further.

    Not sure honestly, wish I did. That said, I do know that not one person has reported (to my knowledge) the inability to playback video using the steps in the "Getting Started" blog post I wrote a while back available here:

  • Hi,

    I'm new to TVWidget. Trying to familiarize with it. Like to find out how to relaunch the dock after i exit from one of the widget.
    It seems like the dock is unable to launch back after i select 'X' in one of the widget.
