No Simulator settings in Menu like dev guid

I have the latest framework download, and I have no Simulator settings to select like it shows in Dev Guild v1.71 on page 72, I get same video image on page 73 with and I have generic named Snippets below.

Snippet Sample--WDKUpdate Check--Main Snippte---Mediaplayer Sample

only one I can click on is Snippet Sample, in the Dev book it shows all Widgets with names on page 73, Or are those already added in? I went to 540 Latest Production-update widgets, but nothing shows different.

On Page 73 in Dev guide it shows something simulator is started and attempts to go to HTTP request with $KF_PROXY, etc, it says that value is set in the Edit Simulator Settings and they have the test URL there is that why all my snippest/widgets are generic? I don't ahve a Simulator settings tab to check if my Proxy needs changed .

    Hello,

The latest documentation is posted online here (from the Installation Guide):

    http://developer.yahoo.com/connectedtv/ins...r_Settings.html

If you do not see the TV Widgets->Simulator Settings menu item as shown in the link above, your installation may not be correct.
You may want to uninstall and re-install the WDK package.

Removing the WDK package (from the Installation Guide):
    http://developer.yahoo.com/connectedtv/ins...DK_Package.html

Installing the WDK package (from the Installation Guide):
    http://developer.yahoo.com/connectedtv/ins..._Simulator.html

Once you have a valid installation, your Samples directory should look like this image (from the Quick Start Guide):
    http://developer.yahoo.com/connectedtv/qui...pment_Directory

Only a subset of TV Widgets are available through the WDK. Many commercially available TV Widgets which you would see on a Connected TV device are copyrighted and not available in the Simulator environment.

    I hope this helps!

    Thank you,
    Kelly

Is that why I don't see the 1080 settings either just the 540? I thought maybe the framework I downloaded from yahoo may not be the latest, but it's the only one. I also noticed in my 540/TV/Widgets directory I have the same called video sample, not mediaplayer........odd. I will to what you mentioned to uninstall and try it again.
    thank you.

Kelly, did exactly as you said, even redownloaded the zip file, when I go to install I check the included files it shows the 1080's in the list, but they don't show up in the menu.

    Any idea.

The 1080 menu items have been removed. The menu should look like this:

    http://developer.yahoo.com/connectedtv/ins..._Simulator.html

Kelly I was trying to follow one of the quick start setups or guides, and it was saying For this tutorial, extract the MediaPlayerSample widget com.yahoo.widgets.tv.mediaplayersample.widget into your local development directory /devwidgets.

Does the mediaplayerSample Widget not exist anymore? Is it now called the tv.videosample widget ?

    Thanks for your help.

We removed the old video sample widget and put the media sample widget in it's place. I agree this is a bit confusing, but it was needed based on platform requirements during installation.

Hello all, I just downloaded WDK 1.0 and per this topical discussion Kelley shows there is no 1080 in the simulator anymore? What's up with this removal? Secondly, is it recommended to uninstall the older version of the WDK before installing 1.0 and finally is it correct that the contents of /devwidgets will be over-written when updating the WDK?

    1) 1080 was removed as no platforms support it now or there is no planned support for it on any platforms this year.

    2) Uninstalling the old version first is not needed, but doesn't hurt I guess.

    3) That is correct, the contents of /devwidgets isn't touched during the installation of a new WDK.
