GeoPlanet Commercial Use

Better, reliable availability for geo.places and geo.placefinder YQL queries....(commercial app wanting to use)

Hello:

We are trying to query using yql geo.places and geo.placefinder the public data in chunks of 200. We want response in JSON format.

A lot of times the data that comes back is Missing for several of these woeids that are on the query URL or the data doesn't come back at all.

This means we have to re-try,

This can suignificantly increase time as we are trying to get this for 1200K (1.2 million).

Trying to get a More reliable response will decrease our timeline significantly to get this data.

How can we achive that? We have to end up doing 6K such queries successfully to reach around

1200K with each query being 200.

Since this is PUBLIC Data, is there a Better Paid version of this so we can get the data in a more reliable way.

Or should we try to do it in some other way.

Steps followed:

1. Filter from 6 million records places file and 2 million aliases file tsv files to create records in geoplanet locations table. We filter for

2. We get 1.2 million in the database. In chunks of 200, we try to query to get the data that we want using http://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql/?q=select%20*%20from%20geo.places%20where%

and "http://query.yahooapis.com/v1/public/yql/?q=select%20*%20from%20geo.placefinder.

Please reply on what steps we can do here, any form of paid service we can get or a US phone number where we can call to discuss this further.

I sent an email last month to the only email address I could find in the forum, and I also submitted a commercial licence request to the contact form on the site.

What is the correct way to speaking with someone in order to obtain a commercial licence for the GeoPlanet database and make use of the woeid's in your own application.

This is the first I've seen or heard of GeoPlanet. Is this a different Webservice? Is it a commercial umbrella for the standard webservices? Which webservices / APIs are available for commercial use? Is Yahoo! Local Search v3 available for commercial use under the GeoPlanet moniker? Local Search is quite buggy under the Developer's Network, does it function properly (i.e. more stable and reliable results) under GeoPlanet? Again, what IS GeoPlanet, exactly?
