SSL Issue

Hi, my widget stopped working, throwing

WR 00:00:01:895: [T:20616] FAILED IN 0.10 s '1852793966:SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details:
error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed' [https://api.betfair.com/global/v3/BFGlobalService.wsdl]

when trying to make a request. I'm not sure that the problem is in the certificate, since url opens perfectly with other clients. Any ideas?

    Are you using the XHR or the URL object to make the request?

  • I'm using URL object. The code worked OK before yesterday.

    Then something changed on the server side as the engine code definitely didn't change in that timeframe. I'd ping your server admins.

  • Yes, it looks like certificate has been changed, and for some reason widget engine fails to verify it.

    Is it a chained SSL cert from one of the budget SSL cert providers? That might be a problem (not sure). Can you let me know who issued the SSL certificate on the server?

  • Yes, that certificate is issued by VeriSign. You can have a look at it by accessing https://api.betfair.com/global/v3/BFGlobalService.wsdl.

    Certificate looks normal to me. I'll ping our engine developers and see if they have any ideas.
