Facebook App on Vizio tv not working

And another question :)  What software version does your TV have? Are you on WiFi or Ethernet?

To get the software version: Launch the Yahoo! Connected TV Store, Select the green button, select "TV App Software" and note the following:

- Yahoo! Connected TV Platform
- Yahoo! Application Framework
- App Container

Thanks!

Hey Greg and Casey,

Sorry for the issue with the Facebook app. Here are a few questions that will help us get this resolved.

What TV model do you have?

What version of the Facebook app do you have? - Launch the Facebook app from the dock, select the "Green" button on the remote or the green icon on the bottom of the app finally, select "About". You should see the version number.

Thanks!

  • I'm having the same problem. If anyone could help us it would be appreciated.

I recently bought a Vizio tv with the connected apps.  The Facebook app hasn't worked since I opened it.  I called Vizio support twice without any help.  I have tried the following actions without success.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the app at least ten times.  I tried powering down the tv at least twice.  I even reset the tv to the initial sta up and redid everything.  None of these things have fixed the problem.  I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions.  Thanks,

  • Hello - just found this forum. I've had my Vizio for four months and still can't get FB to work. Here's my information:

    • Model: Vizio E3D420VX
    • Yahoo! Connected TV Platform: 5.5.37x44
    • Yahoo! Application Framework: 1.5.18
    • App Container: 1.5.25.1
    • Facebook: 1.0.5 (per the Yahoo Connected TV store, because the FB app is stuck at the logon screen and I can't get the green button to work).

    Beth

    1
  • I am having similiar isssues with the facebook widget on my VIZIO. I can log in but that is all that I can do. Facebook Version 1.0.5 Yahoo App Framework: 1.5.18 Yahoo TV Platform : 5.5.28x11 The Twitter widget on my VIZIO works fine.

    1
  • It appears that they will not support the app. Seriously, it has been 8 months since the first complaint. Do they handle the updated Facebook security? That might be the issue. I'm beginning to think that Vizio made a horrible mistake by using Yahoo Widgets on their TV platform.

  • Hello All,

We are working on this issue and hope to have a solution soon. We apologize for the inconvenience and will continue to work on a resolution.

    1
  • Sorry again for any inconvenience. We have found the problem and currently working on a fix. We should have this fixed by early next week. Stay tuned for a confirmed fix.

    Thanks!

  • I am having the same problem on my brand new Vizio Smart TV. Also, I am having problems with the Yahoo Finance App. Can you help with that?

    1
  • The good news... it's easy to uninstall all of the worthless apps. Facebook is one of them. I just wasted an hour trying to login repeatedly, changed my password bunches of times, reset the TV. This TV should be rebranded 'mildly intelligent', because it's not so smart.

    1
  • Same problem called vizio and they were of no help I knew not to go with vizio this one is back off to nest buy and the new samsung will go in its place

    1
  • same problem.

yahoo connected tv platform 5.5.37x47 yahoo application framework 1.5.18 app container 1.5.25.1

    facebook is 1.0.39

    my TV model number E601i-A3

    1
  • Same problem here..... I bought the E601i-A3 three days ago, and still not getting the app to work, and Vizio simply put it off as Yahoo's fault. Any fix on this in the near future? I see this thread has been going for close to a year now and still no fix? How was this not thoroughly tested before being installed on these TV's???? But more importantly, how could it possibly take Yahoo close to a year with no resolutions yet?!?!?

    1
  • im assuming no solution yet ill use my WII to get on facebook lol

    1
  • I have a VIZIO M-Series 47" Class LED HDTV (Smart TV) and when I try to sign in on Facebook app through it, it says LOGIN FAILED. I've tried clear memory reset, still says LOGIN FAILED when I tried to sign-in. Tried reinstalling the app, still no luck at all. It working fine couple days ago too. Anyone have the same problem or solutions to it?

    1
  • thats the same problem we are all having nika, hopefuly they are workin on a fix soon. as Austin Teames had said tehy just found the problem (after near a year) so expect what? a fix within 3 years? :s

    1
  • Same problem....seems my Vizio won't log onto Facebook...I reentered UN and PW a dozen times now and it just isn't working. Youtube works. Netflix works. Facebook is a flop.

    2
  • Well hopefully they'll fix the problem anytime soon now, I mean, I know I can use my laptop to sign in to Facebook and stuff, but I would like to have a fully functioning TV I paid for to work properly and as its supposed to.

    1
  • Having the same issue. Got all apps working except Facebook. :-(

    -1
  • Hmmmmm... I posted a response to this and now it seems to have disappeared? I'll post it again so others searching can see this problem is universal with Vizio's Yahoo app.

I purchased a Vizio E601i-A3 on 2/5/13. They're pushing this TV at all outlets with an incredible pricing structure. I bought mine for 888.00, so my nephew went and got himself one 2 days later. While doing so we found out that most big box stores are now out of them due to the incentive pricing. Which leads me to my point..... There is going to be a VERY LARGE influx of people finding out that Yahoo's FB app doesn't work very soon! My problem with this, is that this problem has been reported, just on this site alone, for nearly a year now, and still no fix?!?!?!?!? I understand computer glitches are a dime a dozen, but was this app never even tested before bringing it to market?!?!? Seems like some pretty half hearted marketing to me.

Anyhow, I hope a resolve to this issue is released soon. I know Austin said a fix was on the way (in about a week from 1/30/13), but how will the thousands and thousands of customers be notified of the appropriate fix?

    2
  • They will have a firmware update probably.

    1
  • Same issue here. I am VERY disappointed in yahoo's inability to fix, and level of concern, (or lack there of) for this problem. I am also unable to get any customer support from Vizio regarding this app/widget, (what ever you want to call it) witch does not sit well with me at all. When you spend several hundred dollars on a piece of technology, you expect it to work, not turn into a piece of crap!

    2
  • Same issue and when I called they sounded like it was a problem they had not heard about. It sounds like they should have heard by now.

    Nancy

    1
  • Hurry up and take your shitzios back I know I am samsung is the only way to go

    1
  • I'm also having a similar issue. Every time I put in my email and password it says unable to log in. Very frustrating, especially considering how tedious typing is with a remote. I have a vizio e422vle and facebook version 1.0.39

    1
  • Same here... model E60iA3. Perhaps a class action suit is in our future??

    1
  • same issue with Vizio M55OVSE.

    1
  • ....lame....

    1
  • I am having the same issue with my Vizio E500i-A1 I purchased last night.

Yahoo Connected TV Platform: 5.5.62x23 Yahoo! Application Framework: 1.15.18 Vender Package: 1.5.43.E Launcher Bootstrap: 1.4.3 Connected TV Store: 1.6.2 App Container: 1.5.25.1

    Facebook: 1.0.39

Wife picked this TV primarily for the ability to check her facebook from the TV... sure would be nice if Yahoo can get a fix out for this issue with a quickness!

    1
  • Same problem on my brand new TV... Facebook login won't work. I even tried escaping special characters using \@ and hexadecimal values with no luck.

M550SL Television V. 2.13.4.0935 Yahoo App 1.6.2 Platform 5.5.37x44 Framework 1.5.18 Vendor Package 1.5.43.E Launcher Bootstrap 1.4.3 Profiles 1.5.6 Multi Media 1.0.3 TV Settings 1.2.11 Connected TV Store 1.6.2 App Container 1.5.25.1 Facebook App 1.0.39

Please get this working! Everything else about this TV is great!

    1
  • Great to find this forum. I haven't been able to log into FB since my Vizio 3D TV was repaired two months ago and everything got signed out on the widgets. And to find out that it's YAHOO'S fault??!!

So much for calling Vizio customer service. Does anybody know how to connect a keyboard to the TV so we can have real internet access? Is this even possible? I should have realized how stupid and limited this thing would be before I bought the TV. It lets me connect to Hulu plus, but not regular Hulu, which all I need is to shell out another $10 a month with my cable bill at $160 as it is. And why isn't Vizio updating the software every few months to make it more functional? Ugh.

    1
  • Hmmmmm??? Once again I'm not seeing My posts on this subject? What's the deal Yahoo? You supposedly had a fix for this on 1/30/13 and would be rolling that fix out for consumers early the next week? Here we are on 2/11/13 and still no word on what's happening. From what I can tell, this has been an issue for at least a year now, and I understand tech fixes can be a hassle and not easily fixed at times....But a year?!?!? Really?!?!?!?

  • so frustrating not being able to use the facebook app. i wish i found this forum 2days ago inste ad of trying for an hour to figure out if i changed my user name/ password and forgot it or something. My twitter is definitely not tame enough to display on my tv so i though Facebook was going to be a good option ... suxxxxx

  • I spent $900 on this razor vizio internet t.v. just for face book and I get this failed to log on garbage all of the sudden and like others I tryed everything thinking it was the T.V. on a personal note. Im not wasting my time typing my t.vs information or model and I really dont care for yahoos auto symathetic responce bot to send me more questions. like others whom wasted their time pleding for assistance just to be met with more questions Im also sick of being ignored. { right everyone } I dont expect yahoo to take the actions a responcible adult would take. its been a year yahoo and these people like me spent more time selecting their t.v than the yahoo has tooken to address the afore mentioned issues. like them I expect less than a satisfactory responce. more likley Ill recieve the same as the others. the people whom designed these t.vs will be loosing buyers because of the face book failure. yahoo needs and requires the understanding that everyone who has a computer eventualy has face book. so stop giving the runn around like an auto phone services and find someone who can get these updates designed so this app works the way it should. a year to fix an accident or mistake just looks like its being ignored and forgotten. like this post will be

  • I got Facebook to work today... I was told that it was fixed over the weekend (while talking to tech support about no Skype ...which is what I am really ticked off about.)

This model was billed as "Skype ready" in the reviews.

YAHOO NEEDS TO GET ON THIS IMMEDIATELY

    1
  • So what's the word Austin Teames? You told us that a fix would be here by 2/7/13, it's now 2/13/13. Can you tell us what the issue was and what the fix is at least?

    1
  • I read the post above from BK and it indeed worked for me! Thank you! I'm glad I only had to wait a few days between buying the set and having the problem fixed.

    1
  • Tried mine after reading BK's reply.... Turns out mine is working now as well. Thanks for letting us all know Yahoo! Sarcasm if you couldn't tell.

    1
  • Our FB app does not work either on our smart Vizio TV. Otherwise the TV works great. Funny thing is that it works on our vizio bulray player..weird

    2
  • Hi Sean,

We had two separate issues on Facebook. One was a bug in the app that was fixed early February and one was a configuration issue on our server side that made Facebook logins fail on 2/13-2/14. Both issues should be fixed now. Please contact us in this thread if you see any further issues.

    Thanks. Oli Petry

    1
  • I still can't log on to face book!!!!!

    1
  • Looking at this forum, I don't see anyone who couldn't log on to FB saying that now they can. So although you say, '"...both issues should be fixed now," clearly they are not.

Would you please see to it that this issue is actually fixed? We've been waiting quite a while. Additionally, this currently unavailable connection was a selling point of the Vizio sets we bought. I'm sure you understand our frustration.

It would be a gesture of goodwill to keep us informed - realistically - about the progress in dealing with this problem.

    Thank you.

    1
  • This is Vizio's problem and the fix is simple. I just bought my Vizio today and I am having the same probs with Facebook. The problem is is that the line on the sign in can't carry enough characters to complete the sign in. I guess I will have to change my sign in to %u201Cbg3%u201D that might fit! Vizio figures this out or this tv goes back to Sam's in 24 hours.

I smell a company going down the tubes!

    1
  • Able to login to Facebook today

    1
  • just spent $1000.00 on vizio with yahoo connected apps with EXACTLY same problem. spent 3 hrs 45 min myself and then called center in Utah and was on phone for over 45 more min. was told to try it again tomorrow. other apps work facebook NO! facebook works on laptop, desktop, iphone, and ipad with no problem. i am so upset in todays economy to spend this much money on a app capable device that DOES NOT WORK. think i will try again tomorrow and if it isnt working i am getting my money back

    1
  • I continue to have trouble signing into FB on the Vizio apps. I have had the TV for about 3 weeks and still no luck. I have unistalled and reinstalled the app. Tried again last night - still nothing. Like others all the other apps work - just not FB.

    1
  • Same here. I tried to log in to Facebook on my Vizio. All I would get is a blank screen that shows all the different tabs,(Wall,Info,Status,Friends & Photos), but nothing else. I would click on Status and type something in and click on share and nothing happens. I click on Info and it would kick me out to the sign in page. Click on Wall and same thing. I contacted Vizio and they were supposed to send me an email response on a solution and nothing yet. This was 3 months ago. All of the othere apps work, (Twitter,Netflix,Amazon Video,Vudu,Hulu Plus, Yahoo Finance, USA TODAY,Pandora,& Rhapsody). I am at the point in saying screw the facebook app.

    1
  • So, how about it, Yahoo? Oli? Austin? Can you give us the courtesy of some honesty regarding getting this problem solved, please? You asked us to contact you through this thread if we see further issues. The issues continue. It is still impossible to log into FB. You've been contacted, as per your request. Will you please direct some energy in getting this fixed? Will you please honestly keep us informed about the progress? We haven't heard from you for quite a while now, The last time we heard from you, you said the problem was solved. It is not solved. Come on, Yahoo...

    1
  • I bought my Vizio E420i-A1 last month and still can't log into FB. I've tried everything under the sun and it's still not working. Will there be a fix to the problem anytime soon?

    1
  • I just bought the Vizio and I wanted to know if the facebook app can launch into full screen?

    1
  • Still nothing but silence from you, Yahoo? Do you not think that is bad for customer relations? Isn't some communication, positive or negative, better than none? That you choose to ignore us is appalling, don't you agree? How about facing this issue, rather than hiding from it? I'd never be able keep a client if I did this in my business...

    1
  • Just bought a Vizio E500i-A1 and I can't get into Facebook either. I get a screen with a black square which I assume is where my profile picture should be. It shows all the buttons, News Feed, Status, Wall, etc., but when I click on any of them it takes me back to the sign in screen. Same thing when I click the green button on my remote. I tried the uninstall-reinstall and that didn't help. Sure would like to be able to use my FB :(

    1
  • Hi All,

I am jumping onto to this conversation to try to help fix the Facebook login issue everyone is reporting. I have tried a couple TV's and had no issue at all today. If you are still having login issue, can you provide the following for me:

-TV Model # -Versions of CTV engine, FW, and Container (Go to the Connected TV Store and open it up to show the sidebar, press green button, go to TV App Software) -Version of app that is failing (Go to Facebook app and open it up to the sidebar, press green button, go to TV App Software) -Type of connection (hard wired or wifi) -Description of failure -Steps to reproduce the error

We have found that there was a Facebook API login issue last month. So would like to see if it is still happening and get this resolved.

    Regards, Elinor

    1
  • Hi Dolores,

I can reproduce your issue and filed a bug to get our team to investigate.

  • Hi Jesikuh, The photos will launch to fullscreen but most of the app is sidebar.

  • Elinor, decided to check again after months of ignoring the problem and I am still not able to log into facebook on my VIZIO e422vle via wireless connection (with full bars of signal). Facebook version is 1.0.39

I have deleted an reinstalled the app software several times. Whenever I put my email address and password in and hit next the program cycles back to the log in window.

I decided to look into this after deleting and reloading my HuluPlus app after it started having streaming issues last night. Deleting and reloading it did not fix the issue. When it started up again about the third time last night I went to netflix to see if there were streaming issues with it and netflix ran fine.

    Appreciate any ideas/help.

    1
  • Hi Caldon, our team is investigating the issue and I will monitor this thread. I will give an update once we have a fix. We apologize for any inconvenience. Regards, Elinor

  • Elinor,

Would you mind if I get in on this?

    Vizio E502AR; CTV 1.6.2; FW 1.5.18; Container 1.5.25.1; Facebook 1.0.39; connected via wi-fi;

Results (every time): Login failed Please try again

I'd appreciate hearing from you on this. I hope you don't just go away before the issue is resolved, as the previous two Yahoo representatives seemed to... Thank you for offering your assistance.

    1
  • I don't see any real solutions to this problem at all. None.

This is our problem also..similar to caldon.."We have deleted an reinstalled the app software several times. Whenever I put my email address and password in and hit next the program cycles back to the log in window.. the we get the message log in failed please try again.".

  • Hi Patrick & Gerry,

We are still investigating the issue and trying to resolve. I appreciate the info on your TV's. We tested a couple of different models and narrowed down to one to dig deeper on. We certainly want to get this fixed as soon as possible and thank you both for your patience.

I will stay on this thread until it is fixed.

  • Hi Gerry & Patrick,

It looks like the Facebook login is working today. Please let me know if you are still having issues.

  • Elinor.. does not work.. as we expected. I don't think there is a fix for this problem. Thanks for your assistance.

I did email VIZIO and they want us to call them...been there done that. however my wife will call them later today. I'll keep you updated.

    Thanks again Gerry H.

    1
  • Hi Gerry, Please try wired if you were on wireless. Keep me posted. Can you also give me the firmware version from the TV --> Press Menu key on remote --> Select Help -->Select System Info-->then Version. I am also working with Vizio to look on their side as well. Regards, Elinor

    1
  • Elinor,

    "Login failed. Please try again."

I appreciate your effort, Elinor. I do have to add that I am astounded that this problem continues.

Please express our heightened and increasing frustration to your supervisors so that the solution to this issue can be expedited. Thank you, Elinor.

  • My wife called VIZIO while at work.. Guess what? we still have the same problem. Being kind .. she stated the customer service was horrible...

    Oh well..

    Gerry H

    1
  • Well my wife tried again to log in and guess what? it seems to be logging in but the page will not load. And the router is within 10 feet ..unobstructed.. of the tv. the other apps are working fine. Our Roku box in the living room.. a long way from our router woks fine and loads very fast....

    Oh well..

    1
  • Elinor,

    "Login failed. Please try again."

    Still no change.

    1
  • Hi Patrick & Gerry, I've pushed this escalation to Vizio and working with their sw team. Do you both mind giving the firmware version of the TV: --> Press Menu key on remote --> Select Help -->Select System Info-->then Version. Regards, Elinor

    2
  • Ok Elinor..We'll give it a chance.

    Version >>> 2.13.4.0935

    Thanks for any help.

    Gerry H

  • Version 2.31.447

Thanks for staying on this, Elinor. Much appreciated.

    1
  • Hi Patrick & Gerry, There are a couple of cases that affect the Facebook login issue that have been logged on Vizio side which may or may not apply but here are two that may still cause the issue:

    (1) password is too long (TV app only accepts 33 characters). (2) Facebook privacy settings that wouldn%u2019t allow external devices. Go to www.facebook.com on-->Click on Settings (top right of page)--->Select Account Settings--->then Select Security Settings--->Go to Login Approvals. Check to see if you have a security code enabled. You will need to disable the login approval so you won't have issue logging in on the TV.

    Regards, Elinor

    1
  • Well my wife's password is only 11 characters long. And we already went to FB to make sure our setting were correct for external devices.

    Thanks any way..

    Gerry H.

    1
  • Elinor,

My password is 12 characters long, and login approval is not checked (I didn't have to disable it - it was already disabled).

Please don't give up. Please stay on this until it is solved. Thank you.

    1
  • Still waiting..no fix. What a shame. we've done everything that VIZIO asked us to do and the app still does not work.

Down in the living room we ahve a VIZIO blue ray player with the facebook app.. It works just fine.

    Gerry H.

    1
  • Elinor?

    Are you still with us?

    1
  • yea im having the same issue with my log in password. for about 2 weeks now

    1
  • My father is having the same issue. His tv is M3D65OSV. The version of the yahoo facebook app is 1.0.39. The weird thing about it is that my facebook account logs in absolutely fine while his keeps going into a login reboot. We have tried changing passwords, changing emails, double checked all appropriate facebook settings that I could think to check that have been posted here. The app clearly works because my account goes right in. There is some unknown difference between certain facebook accounts that either yahoo or facebook is not telling us here. He is quite peeved that he can't get this basic feature to work on his new tv and we can tell we are not alone. I hope somebody posts a solution soon!

    1
  • Hi Patrick,

I am still investigating into why it is only a subset of TV's that are having the Facebook login issue.

Thanks DreamTheaterDude for the description of your issue. This is helpful.

    Regards, Elinor

    1
  • Hi DreamTheaterDude, We will be reaching out to you via email to work on further debugging with your father's login issue. Did you by chance log this issue with Facebook directly? Regards, Elinor

    1
  • Thank you for checking back in, Elinor. As you know, this issue has been going on for quite a while now, and two other Yahoo folks have cheerfully appeared here and then simply abandoned the discussion without notice before a resolution has been presented. Not hearing from you for a few days made me wonder if you were about to do likewise.

Let me ask you this, if I may: Is this issue actually complex and difficult enough to require the inordinate amount of time that has passed so far? How is it possible that, given the longevity of this issue, it is not yet solved? Does this not strike you as incredulous, as it does me? Does Yahoo not have engineers who are competent enough to get this solved, or is it that Yahoo doesn't want to put the competent engineers it does have on such a trivial matter? There are several apps on my Vizio set that work fine, and there is one that does not. We're not talking about finding a way to bypass govenment censoring of the Internet in a Third World country - we're talking about logging into Facebook. This is stunning to me.

Thank you in advance for keeping us informed about the progress of this while not letting days go by in silence, which seems dismissive.

  • Hi Patrick, As promised, I will continue to be on this thread till there is a resolution. The way that Yahoo! Connected TV analyzes app issues is to dissect every issue if it is an app, TV, or 3rd Party issue. It may be simple sometimes but other issues can become more complex and of course take time. There are many variables that needs to be looked at. So every issue reported is quite important and more descriptive details are key.

We have resolved the majority of users that had the login issues in early February but still continuing to pursue the login failures for a handful of users. I have reached out to both Vizio and Facebook to further escalate this concern.

    Regards, Elinor

  • Thank you for replying, Elinor.

And now, still another week has gone by with nothing but dead silence from Yahoo regarding the issue of not being able to log onto Facebook. Surely this issue cannot be complex enough to warrant this amount of time. You mentioned that Yahoo had resolved this for some users in February. Now it's April... Can it actually take this long to determine the problem and solve it for the rest of us?

Logging into Facebook? Something that gets done on myriad other devices tens of million times a day all over the world? Really? Honestly, are there Yahoo engineers assigned to this issue who are stumped day by day, and are actually getting nowhere over this amount of time? Or has this been shoved to the back burner? From the perspective of a customer, that is certainly the appearance.

Do you have anything at all to report, Elinor? You mentioned that you "will continue to be on this thread till there is a resolution." How will you be on this thread? Had you planned on checking in after a week of no word? After a month? If I hadn't written this, how much time would have passed with no report on progress?

I do not wish to be rude, Elinor. I really don't. But I (and others) bought a product that promised a feature that has not been delivered, and time keeps passing with nothing to show. Without prodding here I think the conversation would simply cease, and what was promised just wouldn't ever become available.

That Yahoo engineers haven't yet figured this issue out and implemented a solution, given the amount of time and the very small scope of the problem... It's astounding. It's also unacceptable. Please convey this to someone at Yahoo with the power and authority to get the right people on this and have it taken care of right away. This has gone on long enough.

    Thank you, Elinor.

  • Ahh my FB app still does not work.. I don't think there is a solution. I've call VIZIO..my wife's called VIZIO. none of their solutions work. . Other than that app not working and that remote with buttons on both sides my Tv is great.

  • Hi All,

If you are still having issues with Facebook login, please direct message me at tvwidgets at yahoo-inc dot com. We would like to look at debugging each issue.

  • All,

    We have a temporary solution until the app is fixed which is to not have the following characters in your password: @ # $ & ;

Passwords worked if there was one character.

  • Elinor means "only 1 special character". But the safest bet is to "temporarily" only use letter and number combinations until the issue is resolved. If you must use a special character then refrain from using the & symbol.

  • Eric and Elinor, my password has always consisted of only letters and numbers, so this is actually not a temporary solution. The problem persists...

  • To all here who are still waiting for a solution, please let me report this: Elinor has graciously invited me to come to Yahoo today to try to log on to their engineers' sets so the errors that occur can be captured and error logs can be created. Hopefully this will lead to a solution.

I will report back after the visit, as I assume Elinor will , and hopefully there will be good news.

I give respect to Elinor, as I have been rather loud and vociferous in my criticism in this forum. I meant and stand by everything I said, but for Elinor to extend an invitation after all she's read here was quite surprising, very appreciated, and worthy of respect.

  • Hi All,

I would first like to thank Patrick for helping us debug his issue and pinpoint the trouble that has been causing some users.

Here is the resolution for users that are not using any special characters: - Login to Facebook on a laptop, mobile, or iPad. - Go to settings icon (far top right) and click Account Settings. - On the far left column, scroll down to "Apps" and select it. - Edit "Apps you use" and turn "Platform On" (some users will have a default setting of "Off" if you don't allow any 3rdparty apps on Facebook)

This will enable Facebook app to work on the Vizio TV platform.

If you are a user that had issues with the special characters in your password, we are pushing out a new version this week.

    Regards, Elinor

  • And I would like to thank Elinor for inviting me to bring my issue to Yahoo to see if we could replicate the problem and find its solution. We were successful on both counts.

To those here who like me continued to be frustrated by solutions that turned out not to be solutions, would you please try implementing the instructions Elinor describes above and then report back here about your results? I'm hoping you are all taken care of by this...

I must say, Elinor could not have been any warmer, more gracious, personable, or accommodating than she was during my visit, my rather harsh criticism in this forum notwithstanding. She even gave me some cool Yahoo merchandise on the way out. Thank you again, Elinor, and thanks to John the computer scientist for his expertise.

I hope this solves everyone's FB/Vizio issue. It solved mine...

    -Patrick

  • So, nobody's got no nuthin to report, eh?

Well, Elinor, I guess this is a case of "No news is good news." From the silence here I assume you can consider this issue solved and closed...

Thanks again for you part in making it happen, Elinor.

  • I'm in!!! Thanks Elinor!!

  • No Patrick it's not closed or resolved. My FB app does not work. Never has. It looked like it would but it tried to load up but nothing happened. I just tried the fix Elinor suggested and nothing happened. Nadda..zip, zilch ..zero. Oh well.

Oh yes my wife's password is 11 characters long and has only one symbol.

  • Humm..I checked my apps at FB and neither my Vizio TV nor my Vizio blu-ray player is listed. But the FB app on the blue-ray player works fine. weird.

  • Well after several attempts the app is finally working. My wife is disappointed that the app is not full screen. Other than that it seems to be ok. Thanks for the help!
