Search API problems

I have been getting a lot of "service temporarily unavailable" errors the past few days with the yahoo search api. Is there a cause for this?

Errors appear as follows:

com.yahoo.search.SearchException: Error calling service
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<Error xmlns="urn:yahoo:api">

The following errors were detected:

<Message>service temporarily unavailable [C:28]</Message>

</Error>

Any information regarding this error would be helpful. Thanks.

  • I'm sorry you are having problems. I have seen this issue before, although I haven't seen an update on the exact cause of it.

    You might consider switching to using the BOSS API which will allow you to do more free queries a day anyway. Check out the BOSS documentation.

  • So it does not function properly and no one knows why?

    Is there somewhere that I can go, or someone that I can talk to in an attempt to get more information?

  • The SiteExplorer API has been showing similar errors and the team is working on it. I'm not sure if that is the specific search API you are finding errors on, but if so, we are aware of it and are in the process of fixing it.

    If it's not that API, please let me know and I'll make sure the team is notified.

  • Hi mrzorn26, regarding your question about the search API, have you tried the search group @ http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/yws-search-general/ ? There may have been topics posted on the issue there.

    I am using the SDK provided here:

    http://developer.yahoo.com/download/download.html

    and attempting to make use of the WebSearchRequests.

    Thanks.
