I'm coming to find out that Yahoo doesn't provide real-time (live) stats for players. So, I have several questions regarding retrieving such data. The main questions that I'm trying to answer are these:

Can I get a player's specific stats (i.e. TDs, rushing yards, etc) or fantasy points for a current game, and
Can I get game-specific information (i.e. current quarter, time remaining, etc)

... through Yahoo?

I can see that there are weekly stats provided at a player level. How often is that weekly stat updated? Is it after the game?
Is there such thing as an "hourly" stat? A stat that is more granular than a week?
How do apps like Yahoo's Fantasy Sports (iPad app) provide you with the player's team's game information (i.e. Q3 10:00 remaining, etc). Do they source the data from other providers like Stats, LLC?

If none of these answers lead to a Yahoo API call, I may have to go with the APIs provided by ESPN or something (something free - as my app will be free as well).

My other option is to sniff the packets coming out of my mobile apps (Fantasy Ferret on WP7, and Fantasy Sports on iPad) to see where the data is coming from. It's not hard to do that, but would like information from any of you that may have already answered this question.

The bottom line is, I don't want my FF app to simply aggregate fantasy data, but provide analytical information (i.e. a player is in the 3rd quarter and has scored so many points therefore is projected to score so many points at the end of the game).
