Design Stencils and Visio 2003

I downloaded and opened the Design Stencils for Visio. In Visio 2003, they don't actually open as stencils but rather as Visio docs. I tried using the Document Stencil feature to turn them into stencils, but this didn't work. Any suggestions?

    Good catch, thanks! Yes, when we made the 1.0 version of this set we didn't have a copy of Visio installed so we knew we were issuing "beta" versions of the images that weren't true stencils or library items.

    We have received some help from the community and I believe we'll be able to make an updated (version 1.1) of the kit available in a short while.

  • Have the updates for this been pushed out?

    I am using Visio 07 and running into the same issue no matter what I try. This is forcing me to drag n drop/copy paste from one window into the other rather than being able to work with the stencils like I normally do in Visio. Maybe I am just missing something, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    They did, there is a new version coming soon.

    Writing in all caps is a really good way to get ignored, if not told off.

  • Is there an actual date that can be communicated as opposed to "coming soon"? I'm stuck w/ using Visio 2003. I'd like to make use of these patterns, but until they're real stencils it's a bit of a problem.

    SOME THINGS like downloads from well named and valid makers like office swite, can have glitches also.
    call the phone number of the adviso maker you down loaded it from, they may beable to show you over the phone how to unzio to beable to use full product down load. :b

    The problem is that Yahoo stencil is in wrong format for Visio. They are in format XML Drawing (*.vdx) which cannot be used as stencil. So, the result is that stencil is not usable.
    So I decided to improve current stencil for iPhone and convert it to appropriate format, Stencil (*.vss). I added new elements - iPhone 4, loading popup, note, clear text, black version of Safary, I improved font size and weight, visual improvements of buttons etc. I send this improved version to Yahoo, so I hope that they will update their stencils.
