Fancy keyboard controls

I have been asked to implement a feature that uses keyboard input. I won't discuss the value or apropriateness of keyboard input on TV's, I am just charged with implementing the feature.

I would like to use as much of the existing Yahoo! widget code as possible. I have seen some fancy keyboard based text input, for example in the Twitter application. I would like to do something similar. The only support I can find are for a bare keyboard, or a one line text input control. Am I missing some examples or controls? Or is that the limit of the support that Yahoo! has for keyboard input text edit/creation type controls?

Further, I am asked to support the Vizo OEMs keyboard control. Are the simulator "keyboards" and code I should be aware of?

  • I responded to another post you had about the setValue method and should reiterate that we do have limited examples right now but can still assist you.

    Can you share a little bit more about what you are trying to do?

  • A very (very very very) simple text editor: A block of text, cursor position indicator, cursor controls, delete, insert, maybe copy/paste. Definitely insert predefined blocks of text.

    Something like add a blog entry, or edit an existing one, predefined soft-keys to insert the (names of) the days of the week: "Sunday", "Monday" ...
    and weather "Sunny", "Raining"
