To ensure a consistent experience for consumers, Yahoo provides mobile app developers with an icon to indicate when Yahoo Connected TV's Device Communication capability is available, as shown here:
This icon must appear in all mobile apps that support Device Communication to help consumers with Yahoo Connected TVs to grow familiar with its meaning and use.
The Yahoo Connected TV App Development Kit (ADK) provides icon files in multiple sizes that can be re-sized by app developers
These files are named
<width> and <height> are replaced by the pixel width and height of the image.
Using the Icon in Mobile App User Interfaces
The Device Communication icon must be used in the user interface of mobile apps to identify which content or media is compatible with Yahoo Connected TV Device Communication. When a content item displayed on the device is available to be viewed or acted upon by Yahoo Connected TV, this icon should be used as a button to send the item identifier to the TV. The mobile app can display this icon near content appearing in lists, galleries, detail views, and other places in the UI.
Each mobile app developer determines the icon placement, typically near where the content or media
is executed. In most cases, if the mobile app has a detail view, the icon is displayed there, otherwise, if there is no detail
view, then the icon is displayed
in the list view, as shown below:
Using the Icon in TV App User Interfaces
The Device Communication icon can be used in TV App views for marketing purposes to inform the consumer about the availability of the feature on mobile phones, tablets, or laptops connected to the TV.
